Windhill + Co. Woodworks is the cabinet shop inside a larger North Shore outfit — the Windhill group also builds houses and runs a realty arm — and it keeps its own showroom, finishing booth and installation fleet in a Georgetown building on Moulton Street. Kitchens, baths, mudrooms, bars, built-ins, architectural millwork: a custom shop rather than a cabinet reseller. Homeowners rate it 4.5 across 22 Google ratings, but only a couple of people have written anything at length. A good number resting on a thin base of written accounts reads as promising, not proven. Sitting under a design-build company means the shop works two ways: as a vendor to outside designers, architects and builders, and as the in-house cabinet source for Windhill's own renovations and new builds. Worth asking which one your job would be, and who owns the schedule if the cabinets are one piece of a bigger project. If you want cabinetry drawn, built, finished and installed by the same shop, this is that kind of operation. Ask for the shop drawings and a firm lead time in writing before any deposit — custom millwork lives and dies on those two documents.

My husband and I just contacted David Hayes of Windmill + Co. Woodworks, Inc.. to help us solve a cabinet problem in our kitchen when we had a new microwave installed. Amazing customer service!! No need to look further. David was communicative, early for our appointments, skilled, knowledgeable, experienced and efficient. We really valued his help and finished product. I highly recommend him and his company.
