Xtend Contracting

Two very different kinds of account follow Xtend Contracting, and the difference is worth understanding before any deposit changes hands. In a 2023 HomeAdvisor review, a customer wrote that he had sued Bruno, won a $7,500 small-claims judgment plus interest, and still had not been paid. A September 2025 Angi review describes a court judgment in the writer's favour and a writ of execution the Sheriff's Office tried to enforce, with the money still not recovered. In January 2020, a BuildZoom reviewer said he had won a court-ordered money judgment against Xtend and Bruno personally. The other accounts are about carpentry, and they are warm. A March 2025 Angi customer had a deck built and describes quick responses and courteous crews. In December 2024, a homeowner had exterior trim repaired, with damaged sections replaced to match the existing style. A July 2021 reviewer had an old porch taken down and a new one built; a June 2020 one had a roof deck put in by workers who were tidy and did not skip days. One March 2025 reviewer calls Xtend their go-to team for painting, repairs and room remodeling as a repeat customer over many years. The company works out of 155 New Boston Street in Woburn, and its Better Business Bureau profile, filed under a Somerville address, puts it at 11 years in business. What goes wrong goes wrong the same way: money first, then a stall. A March 2025 Angi reviewer writes that Bruno takes the money and does nothing for months, does not apply for permits, and blames the town or city for every delay. The BBB grades the company F, with three complaints on file and unanswered, and its page carries a review alleging a $4,000 deposit paid for a new door and frame on an elderly homeowner's house with the job never started. Angi and HomeAdvisor both currently flag the company as "under review". The platform headlines run the other way: 4.6 from 61 ratings on Angi and the same 4.6 from 61 on HomeAdvisor, 84% of them five-star. BuildZoom shows 4.5 from 13 ratings and, separately, gives the company a BuildZoom score of 0. Customers whose deck or porch got built describe careful work; the ones chasing a deposit ended up in court. If you go ahead on a deck, a porch or a repaint, put permit responsibility and dates in writing, keep any up-front payment small, and tie the rest to stages you have seen finished.
