Five written reviews, and one name runs through every one of them: Marcelo. Your Neighborhood Handyman LLC is a Quincy company run by Marcelo Correa, and its Houzz page says it works Norfolk and Plymouth Counties, taking the smaller jobs itself and pulling in a contractor network when a project outgrows a handyman. Thumbtack puts it at nine years in business with four employees and twelve hires through the platform. The customer-written history is short, and it is old. Between November 2023 and January 2024, five Thumbtack customers described the same crew at work: a floating butcher-block shelf hung on an already-tiled wall with no blocking behind it, which the homeowner called a creative solution; a window job finished in a single day by Marcelo, John and Samuel; and a run of projects for one repeat customer that covered a room addition, a finished basement and repainting. That 2023 reviewer also said the estimates were fair given material and labor costs, and that the crew worked neat. Then the arithmetic. Thumbtack's headline is 4.3 stars, but the distribution underneath it is 82% five-star and 18% one-star across just 11 ratings — at that volume the split tells you more than the average, and all five written accounts fall on the positive side of it. The company's own Thumbtack About text calls it a licensed general contractor without giving a number, so read that as its description of itself and ask for the registration in writing. The two profiles also paint different businesses. Houzz lists home remodeling, additions, kitchen and bath remodels and roofing behind two project galleries; Thumbtack lists general contracting next to interior and exterior painting, tile, deck and porch work, gutters, pressure washing and drain and pipe repair, with 63 project photos. This is a reasonable call for a South Shore homeowner with a punch list or a mid-size project who wants one crew across several trades. Before booking, ask what sits behind the one-star ratings, get the licence number, and — since the newest customer account dates to January 2024 — ask for recent local references you can call.
Marcelo was the absolute best he knew how to do so much and was prompt caring helpful cannot say enough about how great and satisfied i was.
Amazing job installing a floating butcher block shelf in our kitchen. The wall was already tiled and there was no blocking to hang the shelf but they figured out a creative solution and the shelf looks great. Would highly recommend working with them.
Marcelo stepped in when my previous contractor couldn’t handle the work. He completed the job of all my renovations with professionalism and excellent quality work
Marcelo and his crew, John and Samuel, completed my window project in a single day ! Their skills, professionalism, and flexibility were greatly appreciated 👍
Marcelo and his team are talented professionals. I have had multiple projects done in my home, from a room addition, finishing a basement ,repainting to name a few. Marcelo’s estimates jobs fairly, due to the high demand of materials and labor. Marcelo’s crew is efficient, neat and respectful.
