A homeowner who lost shingles to high winds in March 2025 wrote that she was in a panic when she found Marcelo on Google — he was at the house within the hour. In December 2024 another customer with water coming in around the pipe through the roof had him there inside two hours. During January's blizzard he got someone out the same day to deal with a front door that would not shut. Speed is what customers lead with. Your Neighborhood Handyman is Marcelo Correa's crew, based in Quincy and covering Norfolk and Plymouth counties. The name undersells the range. They will hang a closet rod on a slanted wall and patch the paint around it — but they also demolished and rebuilt a front and side porch, rebuilt a porch and balcony from scratch, converted a three-season porch into an insulated bathroom, entryway and office, and added a new bathroom for a Quincy household in 2023. The small jobs are the tell. In July 2025 a customer had a bathroom fan that never cleared the steam — work other contractors would not take on — and Marcelo found the cause, planned the replacement and brought in an electrician to finish it. In December 2023 a Thumbtack customer wanted a floating butcher-block shelf on a wall that was already tiled with no blocking behind it, and the crew worked out how to hang it. Crew members get named: Wilson on a back-stairs rebuild with a new handrail in June, John and Samuel finishing a whole window project in a single day in November 2023. Two customers hired him after another contractor stalled or walked away. Two accounts describe jobs growing once things came apart. An August 2025 porch and balcony escalated when rotting wood turned up underneath, and a November 2025 customer said Marcelo spotted carpentry problems on a walkthrough that she would have missed entirely. Both ended happy, but budget for it. The platforms also differ — five stars across 51 Google ratings against 4.3 across 11 on Thumbtack — and the "Licensed General Contractor" line is Thumbtack's own listing rather than a registry record. For a fast repair, stairs and railings, porch or deck work, or a punch list before a condo closing around Quincy, this is an easy call. Get the scope in writing with an allowance for hidden rot, and ask which of the crew will be on site.
the most prompt contractor we've ever worked with, project completed on time, friendly and professional, we will definitely be using again when we need it
Dependable, and does good work! I will surely be using Marcelo again. I appreciate the help!
I reached out to Your Neighborhood Handyman to replace my back stairs. Marcello and Wilson were just wonderful. They came on time, worked diligently and followed through with the job. The work they did was very good and the stairs are now safe and sturdy with a great handrail. They also replaced two doors. I highly recommend these two reliable workers and this great company. Great quality work and creative solutions!
I actually waited a week to post to be sure the work held and it sure did. I asked for a closet rod to be installed on a slanted wall and they were fast, efficient and even fixed up some patches around the area. I loved the work and would call on them again. ^.^
