Ask Fix-It Phil to fix a stuck shutter or rebuild a rotted deck, and the story that keeps repeating is speed — a quote within two days, the job finished within the week. The company describes more than 40 years in home improvement, though its own profiles disagree on where it's based: Rowley, Massachusetts on HomeAdvisor, Quincy on Thumbtack, so it's worth confirming the current service area before booking. The completed jobs on file run wide — shutters, shower doors, siding and windows, a full deck rebuild, and a screened-porch redesign one homeowner said drew compliments from neighbors. Reviewers describe someone who responds fast and stays in touch once hired: in a 2023 review, a homeowner who emailed about a stalled shutter project got a reply within a day, an on-site assessment two days after that, and a finished job before the week was out. All five written reviews on record date to 2023, so treat the specific turnaround times as a snapshot from that year rather than a current guarantee. Both HomeAdvisor and Thumbtack show a small share of one-star ratings — one out of 15 on HomeAdvisor, one out of six on Thumbtack — with no written detail behind them, so it's worth asking for a couple of recent references directly. Thumbtack's profile also lists an OSHA 30 certification and a completed background check. For general carpentry, drywall, trim, cabinetry, or a smaller job like a shower door swap or new flooring, this is a reasonable call — just pin down the service area and get a written quote before work starts.
Phil was a complete pleasure to work with: he did exactly what we wanted, kept in contact with us, and was punctual and expert in his work. We will be calling him again!! I highly recommend Fix-it Phil--he's a gem and we really appreciate the quality and care he shows in his work!
Phil did a great job installing our shower doors! Very responsive and a great guy
These are good people who show up and do a great job. They can do just about anything from siding to windows to walls and decks and many more. I would highly recommend them to others.
Using Phil is a no brainer. I attempted a project on my home involving shutters but failed so I looked up contractors for help. Phil responded to my email within one day. He came to my home for an assessment and gave me a quote within two days. On the fourth day after emailing him the project was finished and done to profection.
I have a screened porch which got damaged over the winter, and needed to be replaced. Phil came up with the most innovative design - the new porch is beautiful and I have been getting comments and compliments from neighbors and friends.
