A.W. Puma Home Services works out of Brookline, taking on electrical, HVAC and plumbing calls β the sort of business homeowners call for a failing furnace, a leaking radiator, or wiring that needs updating. Thumbtack's profile for the company states 12 years in business, though the company's Massachusetts BBB filing shows it was incorporated in August 2024 β the two accounts of the company's history don't line up, so it's worth asking directly how long the people showing up have actually been at this. The available reviews are five ratings on Thumbtack, all written in 2025. One customer with a failing HVAC unit said the technician ran diagnostics on the spot and explained the fix without pushing extra work; another, racing to satisfy an inspector before a bathroom renovation could proceed, had a steam radiator repaired the same visit. A high ceiling fan replacement and a full furnace-and-central-air swap both drew praise for clean, efficient work, and one reviewer specifically called the price fair. Across all 13 ratings the platform has on file, the average sits at 4.6 stars, and the company carries a Top Pro badge there for 2025 along with a completed background check on record for Albert Puma. Two things are worth clearing up before booking. The company's BBB listing is currently "Not Rated," with BBB noting it is still responding to previously closed complaints β no count or detail is given, so it's unclear how many or how serious. Separately, BuildZoom's own profile names the owner as James Carabitses, which doesn't match the Albert Puma name attached to the business elsewhere β worth confirming who you'd actually be dealing with before signing anything. BuildZoom also lists active Massachusetts electrical, plumbing and sheet-metal business licenses for the company, though that's the directory's own listing rather than a state-registry check. For a straightforward HVAC or electrical repair in the Brookline area, the review record so far is short but consistently positive β just get clear on the ownership question and ask what's behind the BBB status before committing to anything bigger.
Daniel Porter is very professional. He came and did a couple diagnostics to HVAC and gave me some solution of what happen to unit and what can I do from there. Very professional and wasnβt trying to push me paid extra for more work.
They had to work around my schedule and they did. We had a deadline on getting the work done and they met it. They charged a fair price and I was pleased with the work. I would recommend them
Very impressed. I got a call and text quickly. I had a high ceiling fan replaced. The work was done efficiently and the fan looks and works great. The electrician was very professional. Will definitely use again if future electrical work is needed.
Very happy with my experience. I had an emergency to satisfy an inspector for my bathroom renovation and Daniel graciously moved at lightning speed to resolve it. Very appreciative of him coming out and fixing my steam radiator.
Replaced our furnace and central air with them. Nice clean work. They kept the area clean and it looked better than when they arrived. 10/10 for puma
