Abiatar Construction and Hardscape is an Everett-area general contractor handling major residential work alongside hardscape and masonry projects. The company says it began improving local properties in 1990; Houzz lists five projects, an ICPI certification, and services ranging from remodeling and additions to decks, stonework, and outdoor kitchens. Recent Google reviews describe a nearly 7,000-square-foot custom home, long-running hardscape and renovation work, and an extensive yard project involving decks, walkways, stairs, and masonry. Older Houzz reviews add detailed accounts of basement finishing, paver patios, stone walls, and multi-trade renovations, often praising craftsmanship, communication, and cleanup. There is one clear counterpoint: a September 2025 customer called the company rude and overpriced, saying another quote was 30% cheaper and finished three months sooner. That complaint is recent enough to discuss plainly, even though the other recent reviews are positive. Abiatar fits homeowners planning a substantial remodel, addition, basement, or hardscape build who want one contractor coordinating several trades. We recently completed an almost year-long project with Abiatar Construction, building our new home in Lynnfield, and I cannot recommend Fabio, his father Joe, and their crew highly enough. This was a massive undertaking on our one-acre lot: demolishing the existing house and then building an almost 7,000-square-foot home from the ground up — excavation, foundation, framing, stucco, carpentry, and virtually every trade and detail in between. A few things really set Abiatar apart. First, they never say no. Whenever I asked Fabio, Joe, or their crew if we could do something differently or make a change, they figured out how to make it happen — whether that meant adding an LVL beam to open up a space or converting an entrance staircase to full granite because something simply didn't look right to me. They consistently delivered exactly what I wanted, even when it took real thought, ingenuity, and creative problem-solving to get there. They are also incredibly knowledgeable across every facet of construction. We had a custom, fully steel floating staircase arrive with minimal installation instructions, and they had already anticipated what would be needed to install it correctly, including adding structural blocking and support ahead of time. That same level of expertise showed up again and again — a rotating Murphy bed, glass railings, porcelain tile on the outdoor deck — no matter how complicated or unusual the request, they figured it out and got it done right. Beyond their technical skill, they also have genuinely good taste. It's hard to articulate exactly what you want when you're trying to envision something that doesn't exist yet, but Abiatar took our input, combined it with their own ideas and experience, and consistently produced beautiful results. This was especially true of the hardscape work, which was enormously complex — regrading the property, creating multiple levels, minimizing steps and slopes, incorporating lighting, and even working through material and color choices. They managed to pull all of those elements together seamlessly. What I want to emphasize most, though, is what it was like to actually work with them for nearly a year. Staying on good terms with anyone through a project of this length and magnitude — with the financial pressure, constant decisions, changes, and inevitable challenges that come with building a custom home — is not easy. Working with Fabio and Joe was always pleasant. They are understanding, they anticipate issues before they become problems, and communication was never a struggle. I could always reach them, and I would almost always get a response immediately. Last but certainly not least, I want to speak to their character. Fabio, Joe, and their team are simply good people — honest, hardworking, insightful, helpful, and genuinely nice guys. By the end of a project this large, you get to know the people you're working with very well, and I can say without hesitation that our home would not be what it is today without them. If I were building another house tomorrow, Abiatar Construction would be the first call I made. I can't recommend them highly enough to anyone considering a major renovation, new construction, or a project of this scale.
We’ve worked with Joe from Abiatar and his team since 2016 for everything from hardscaping and gut renovations to a completely new build. They are incredibly knowledgeable, proactive, and hardworking professionals who always improve upon our original plans. Finding reliable, trustworthy people for major financial investments is tough in today's market, but Joe's team always delivers. We are picky customers and appreciate the communication , consideration and most importantly the quality of Joe’s work. My family and I highly recommend him!
Joe and his team take tremendous pride in their workmanship, they have innovative vision for the design space, and they execute the work with precision and pizazz. Little did we know that the yard they created for us would actually land in magazines and catalogs! It truly was a pleasure having them work with us on several external projects (large and small) to create: an entirely gorgeous new backyard with deck and hard-scaping; lush garden and side yard landscaping; new front walkway and staircase with railings; completely paint and stucco our home with complementary color schemes; replaced/repaved our driveway; etc. Inside our home, Joe and team have remodeled our bathrooms, refreshed all of the doors, replaced hardwood flooring, and many other jobs. We have them coming back soon to take on several more projects - we are excited that they are bringing their vision and expertise yet again! Top notch company - genuine, trustworthy, reliable, and really good people.
Rude and overpriced. Was difficult to deal with and we got another local quote which was 30% cheaper and ended up taking 3 less months than their quote. You should look elsewhere.
Abiatar Construction was the best construction and renovation company we have ever hired. They were extremely professional, always on time and when a problem developed, they found amazing solutions that satisfied all of our criteria and concerns. This was a complex renovation in an old home and the results were stunning, way beyond our expectations. We would not hesitate to hire them again.
