Aedi Construction is a Waltham, Massachusetts general contractor whose written history splits sharply: long, detailed praise for full-scale renovations sits next to two serious 2017-2018 accounts of a project abandoned mid-build. The praise runs deep and specific. Matt Ayers is a liar and a thief. We hired him in September 2017 to build our house. Matt disappeared several times throughout the project, and we eventually found out that most of our subs had not paid a penny, and Matt was gone for the wind. We have spent months in legal battles with sub contractors who placed mechanics liens on our property. We have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars and have heard that many other clients and vendors (most who had worked with him for over a decade) are in similar positions. Never trust this company.
We hired Matt last year to build our house. He disappeared several times throughout the start of the project before disappearing for good six months in. He had misappropriated hundreds of thousands of dollars, not paid sub contractors, and left us with a legal battle with the subs after they placed mechanics liens on our property. I have heard of many other clients and vendors being affected by Matt's irresponsibility. He lied to us over and over again throughout the project, and has considerably affected us financially.

Aedi Construction is that rare find. Small and detailed oriented with great project management, but with the skill-set to compete with Boston's biggest and finest outfits. Their passion for what they do has shown through on the numerous projects we have undertaken with them, from new houses, to complex renovations, and we have never been disappointed. I think that you will find Matt Ayers to be not only genuine and a good listener but the guy you want building your project!
We have enjoyed working with Aedi on three occasions over the past 8 years. The first 2 projects were smaller in scale (we added bathrooms, dormered a roof, fully overhauled the HVAC system), and this last one was large - all rooms in our house were either gutted or touched in some way, and new square footage was added. From the start, Aedi worked with our architect to create a plan that met our budget, often suggesting cost effective solutions that created the look and feel of what we were aiming for. All of their subcontractors were excellent - they did wonderful work and were very nice to have in our home. The work was done swiftly and was completed on time. As is often the case when working on an old (1890) house, surprises arose - Aedi did a terrific job communicating with us to outline and propose solutions. We felt we had a true partnership with Aedi in all of our projects. They are absolutely a pleasure to work with.
