One hundred and eighteen building permits, twelve of them in the last three years, and they nearly all point the same direction: porches, decks, and the framing underneath them. Alexis Home Remodeling is Edian Langa — a sole proprietorship at 98 Rossmore Road in Jamaica Plain with one employee on the books, usually the owner on site with a helper or two. BBB records the business as started in 1997, and Langa's own Angi page says it began after he bought his first Boston triple-decker in 1992; both are his account, not anything independently confirmed. The Angi file is the deep one: 5.0 across 113 ratings, 98 percent of them five-star, with 25 readable accounts running August 2022 to April 2026 and job values from $80 to $164,000. Reviewers name Langa personally, over and over, and they describe particular work rather than generic praise. A June 2024 customer wrote about front stair railings replaced with Timbertech railings and Azek post sleeves, finished on time and at a price they called affordable. In a May 2024 review, a homeowner with no general contractor said Langa dealt with her directly through a kitchen gut job taken down to the studs. Another May 2024 account credited him with custom gutters and guards that finally solved a leak several earlier crews had failed to fix, and an August 2024 review of a structural sunroom repair described costs laid out in advance and material choices flagged along the way. The dissent is a single one-star from May 2016 on BuildZoom: a $10,000 deck and basement job that ran 60 days, with the customer alleging wasted time, stretches where Langa became unreachable, and agreements not honoured. It is ten years old and it is the only complaint on file anywhere — but it is the one account running against everything else, and it is fair to raise with him. Licensing is the other thing to pin down. BBB lists no licence, registration or bond number for this business at all, and although Angi's About text says the company is fully licensed and insured, Angi's licensing block shows no number either. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts construction supervisor licence and a home improvement contractor registration for him, neither confirmed against the state registry here, and BuildZoom's own page contradicts itself on when that registration issued. Massachusetts home improvement work normally requires the HIC registration, so ask for the number. He is the right call for exterior carpentry and structural repair on older Boston housing stock — decks, porches, dormers, gutters, windows — and for gut remodels where the homeowner wants to deal with the person swinging the hammer. Before booking, get the registration number, and get the schedule and payment milestones in writing.

Exceptional! Edian is a true professional who is a man of his word, with meticulous attention to detail and as close to exactly o. Time with burn job start & completion as I've ever experienced. I've had him rebuild 2 massive porches. His work far far exceeded my expectations. In pic, he re-built the 1st floor porch, re-supported the sunroom, excavated the 125 year old footings, then re-poured new footings. Exceptional structural work, far above 'code' for a super solid result. Then, to my design, added new, Victorian details that make it sing!

Edison and his two staff did a great job move and install my Titan message chair to my living room from first floor. Highly recommended!

Ed is great to work with. This is the second job we've hired him for. We wouldn't work with anyone else.

! EXCEPTIONAL ! Starting with great listening to the attention to details that I was most excited about, to Edian's / Alexis superior preparation & commitment to on time start & completion, Edian's professionalism yielded 2 huge projects that are an absolute joy to behold. Edian's extraordinary attention to details is so far beyond my expectations, that he actually improved upon my architect / engineer's structural design. I will admit that I expect much much more than most & Edian truly exceeded my standard of 'triple redundancy' when it comes to structural strength, safety & my '100 year goal' for major 'capital' level projects. His work is so above and beyond, that several tradespeople have commented on the extraordinary level of workmanship! I have had the pleasure of working with Edian on 2 huge reconstructions of porches. For both, he scheduled well in advance and then he & crew showed up a few days early, completing these massive projects on time. Yes, you read that correctly, ON TIME. He & his crew have an exceptional 'culture!' They were here everyday, without exception, always cheerful & laser focused on their dedication to getting the job done according to Edian's strict codes of on time progress. I wish I had space to say more! In short, I cannot wait until I have more work for Edian / Alexis!

Edian contacted me and after reviewing the photos that I sent. We discussed options and date to complete the work. While performing the work, he checked with me a number of times showing me variations to make sure I would be happy and it would meet my expectations. Before he left, he advised me of the importance of sealing the wood. Edian left additional wood so that I could apply different stains to make sure it would match my cabinets.
