Alfeo Electrical Company has been wiring houses in Waltham since 1984. Its Better Business Bureau listing puts the shop at 85 Orange Street and names Joe Alfeo as the owner — 42 years on, still a one-employee operation. That is a particular kind of hire. With a single electrician on the books, the person who prices your job is the one who turns up to do it, and the calendar is one man's calendar. Homeowners who would rather deal with the same tradesman every visit will like that; anyone who needs a crew on a tight deadline should say so when they call. Before booking, ask to see his Massachusetts electrician's licence and a current certificate of insurance, and get the scope and the price in writing.
