Alpha customers describe inspectors who explain findings as they walk through a house. One July 2026 customer said Tom and Gary even identified which light switches controlled which outlets, then provided a detailed report that was easy to follow. Based in Merrimack, the company says it provides residential and commercial inspections and related testing in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine, and has worked in home inspection since 2004. Recent homebuyers describe both the inspection and the explanations afterward. An August customer who hired Jarred Dassler for a home inspection in Windham, NH, praised his thoroughness, patience, and answers to their questions. Another said Jim explained each step and answered questions throughout an inspection of their nearly 2,800-square-foot home without making them feel rushed. A June customer described Tom and Gary inspecting a single-family home in Nashua, including an add-on check of the radon system. The customer said their report ran 40–50 pages and included photographs they could use when arranging repairs. Scheduling and report delivery receive specific praise. One August reviewer called on Monday and had the inspection completed by Friday; another said the office scheduled an appointment for the next day. A customer working with Ken Mundry said the report arrived within 24 hours and highlighted items needing attention. Another, who hired Alpha for home, septic, water, and radon inspections, said Ken answered their questions and reports arrived quickly as promised. An August customer also described an initial booking mixup that Alpha immediately corrected, with compensation. Google lists a 5-star rating from 2,158 ratings, and Alpha's BBB grade is A+. Stephan C Mangekian's New Hampshire home-inspector licence 00054 is active. A May 2026 Google review raises three concrete objections. The customer said radon testing took place in the living room rather than the basement and they paid for retesting. They also described a charge for a septic inspection when frozen ground prevented access to the tank, followed by difficulty obtaining a refund despite an earlier agreement documented by email. Finally, they said the inspector described an old oil tank as fine, but oil-delivery companies subsequently refused to fill it because they considered it out of code. The customer reported spending thousands of dollars on an urgent replacement.
I wasn’t able to be at the inspection but my husband raved about how professional Jarred was at the home inspection. I received the report pretty quick and he did a thorough job. We had a general home inspection. Two thumbs up!
Jim did a very thorough job and was pleasant to work with. There was a slight mixup in the beginning when I first made the booking, but they immediately fixed it and compensated us for the issue. 5 stars!
Test person showed up at the property on time and quickly placed his equipment. He explained how it works and the remediation system in place. He advised that a report would be emailed in 48 hours shortly after he picked up the equipment. Our report was available as promised.
Tom took this job on fairly short notice and did a terrific job. He was thorough and the report provided was complete and concise. I would not hesitate to use Alpha Building Inspections again.
Alpha was great in performing the inspection. called on Monday they had the inspection done by Friday.
