Alvesco Construction Inc. is a Lancaster, Massachusetts general contractor offering major residential remodeling, additions, new construction, kitchens, bathrooms, decks, basements, siding, and related work. Its website says founder Leo Alves began in construction as a carpenter in 2010 and now leads the company; the business also lists a Construction Supervisor License and Home Improvement Contractor registration as self-reported credentials. The strongest public track record is older but detailed. Twenty-four HomeAdvisor reviews produce a displayed 5.0 rating, with dated accounts from 2013 through 2020 describing porch rebuilding, bathroom and basement renovations, stairs, doors, roofing repairs, and whole-home work. Reviewers repeatedly mention clear communication, prompt responses, clean jobsites, on-time completion, transparent pricing, and willingness to correct problems; a 2020 porch review specifically describes composite decking and timely completion. Houzz lists six projects and similarly shows work in remodeling, kitchens, bathrooms, decks, and siding. Before booking, confirm the current availability of the crew, the exact scope and timeline, and the status of the licenses and insurance, since the directory listings identify some information as self-reported. The HomeAdvisor page also preserves legacy J&L Contractors wording while the current business is named Alvesco Construction, so ask which entity will appear on the contract and permit paperwork. Alvesco looks best suited to homeowners seeking a substantial remodel, addition, or new-build project rather than a small repair. Review the written estimate, responsible license holder, insurance documentation, and recent references for the specific type of work before signing.
J & L Contractors rebuilt our front porch with composite materials; the work was high quality, professional, and completed on time.
After 20 years, our home's original front porch had served us well, but the wood decking, railing and trim all needed to be replaced. We decided to rebuild it using composite materials everywhere, so it will last even longer than the original and will be as close to maintenance free as possible. We picked out exactly the materials and colors we wanted for our new porch and then started looking for a contractor. Based on recommendations, online research and Angie's List, we requested quotations from three contractors. All three responded and we had a chance to discuss the project with each of them. J & L Contractors stood out among them, with the best references, most experience and they were ready to do the project promptly. Working with J & L was a pleasure. Anytime we needed to communicate with them, they answered promptly and handled everything professionally. J & L's work was of high quality and was completed on time. We highly recommend them.
