Argent Construction & Remodeling works out of 112 King Hill Road in Hanover under Walter Jara. On Houzz it lists a general contractor's spread — framing, masonry, decks, custom cabinets — with flooring running through most of it: vinyl, laminate and linoleum installation, tile, subfloors and laminate repair. What exists in writing is a single account, and it is a decade old and unhappy. In January 2016 a homeowner gave one star on BuildZoom, describing a two-week promise for a proposal that had not arrived by week three; when they chased it, they were told the company had picked up two other large projects and would not be sending the proposal at all. That complaint is about communication before any work began, not about a finished job — which is worth separating, because nothing here speaks to the quality of the work itself. The rest is quiet. BuildZoom samples a single building permit and assigns its own score of 82; Houzz shows one project and names Hanover as the only service area it claims. On licensing, BuildZoom reports two Massachusetts home improvement contractor registrations tied to the company — #195288 as active and #181778 as inactive — attributing both to the state board. That is a directory's record rather than a check made here, so ask for the current registration number and confirm its standing yourself. For a Hanover-area flooring or small general-contracting job, there is not enough on file to judge the work in either direction. Ask for recent local references, and get the proposal date in writing — the one complaint on record was about exactly that.
I was left waiting for a proposal and was not even given the courtesy of a follow up. I was told it would take 2 weeks to receive the proposal after the consultation. I followed up after not hearing back on week 3 only to be told that they could no longer take on the project or even provide the proposal as promised because they had taken on 2 other large projects. It would have been nice to have been informed of that prior instead of waiting almost a month for a proposal that would never come. Communication and follow up is clearly very much lacking.
