ARO Home Improvement is a one-person Dracut LLC run by Tony (Anthony/Antonio) Oliveira, in business since 2007 on kitchens, bathrooms, basements, flooring, trim, countertops and seasonal exterior work around the Merrimack Valley and into southern New Hampshire. The written record is entirely dated — the newest of 11 Angi reviews runs to August 2010, the oldest to July 2005 — but it tells a consistent story about Tony's own hands-on jobs. In 2009, reviewers praised trim and molding repair, a wood flooring install and a tile job that left one kitchen "looking wonderful," describing him as punctual, professional and reasonably priced. One 2009 customer said meeting him was like "hitting the jackpot" and went on to refer him to a neighbor and a friend. The record also holds a real warning. In an April 2010 review, a customer who'd been happy with an earlier laminate-countertop job hired ARO again to reface kitchen cabinets — and that job went badly: cracked laminate, doors and drawers that wouldn't fit or close, an unresponsive contractor, and 4-6 weeks of back-and-forth before the customer had someone else finish it. Two more reviews from 2009-2010 describe a job that ran a week instead of the promised two days, and debris plus a possible leak left unaddressed after the crew moved on. Before calling, two things are worth confirming directly. BuildZoom's directory records, which cite Mass.gov Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation filings, list ARO's home improvement and general contractor registrations — two separate numbers, #163597 and #209303 — as inactive and cancelled, and BuildZoom's own check found the #209303 general contractor license expired as of March 2026; get current registration proof from the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation before signing anything. And in one public reply to a 2005 complaint, Tony pushed back on the customer rather than address the work, calling it an attempt to get free labor — worth keeping in mind if a job doesn't go as planned. A Houzz profile also lists plumbing work under this same one-employee operation, with no plumbing licence found anywhere on file. The work itself — trim, flooring, tile, countertops — draws real praise when it goes well; just confirm the paperwork and get everything in writing given the mixed complaint history.
we were very pleased with the work. (Service: Handyman for Multiple Small Projects; 'Yes, I recommend this pro'; star rating displayed as N/A)
He did a good job but I like people that are on time and not make excuses for not been there. He told me 2 days and it took one week. (Service: Stone Slab Countertops - Install; cost stated $2,500; 'Yes, I recommend this pro')
We hired ARO to replace a laminate countertop and they did a nice job and were responsive. Based on that experience with them we decided to use them to reface the cabinet under the countertop. That was a big mistake. The contractor became very unresponsive, did not show up when he said he would, didn't call to tell us he would be late, etc. The work he did on the refacing was terrible. The laminate was cracked, the doors didn't open/close/fit properly and the drawers didn't work correctly either. After 4-6 weeks or so of going back and forth tying to get the job finished we ended up having to hire someone else to finish the job. (Service: Laminate Countertops - Install; cost stated $1,000)
Tony did an excellent job...A+++++!! (Service: Laminate Wood or Stone Flooring - Install; 'Yes, I recommend this pro'; star rating displayed as N/A)
good for the most part. A couple problems- we never discussed clean-up removal of old tiles/debris. So it's sitting in my garbage barrels in my driveway for me to remove. Also, might be a small leak under toilet and we have called ARO to look at and they haven't followed up. (Service: Tile: Ceramic and Porcelain - Install)
