Auburn Oil is a small, family-run heating-oil company based in Auburn that delivers to households across southern Worcester County and services the equipment it fuels. Its own site says the family spent twenty years delivering oil for other companies before starting their own, that every member of the family is a certified boiler technician, and that it supplies heating oil without added biodiesel. What customers write about, over and over, is speed. A 2025 customer called in a bind and had an emergency fill one to two hours later. Another, two days before Christmas 2024, was told by everyone else that nothing could come before the end of the week, and Auburn Oil arrived within thirty minutes of the call. A 2026 reviewer whose usual company had let their tank run dry a second time in a cold snap got a delivery from Auburn Oil despite not being a customer, with pipes close to freezing. Several people say they called on a Friday or Saturday and had oil the same day. The service side draws the same tone. Ed is named repeatedly — for an oil-burner cleaning a 2025 customer called the most thorough they had ever had, for a heating-system service done quickly and without mess, and for deliveries in icy conditions. Steve is named for a prompt repair in December 2025, and Aneta, who answers the phone, is named in review after review for setting up accounts and squeezing in orders. A 2026 reviewer had a furnace inspection done at a price they said could not be matched, and another notes a veterans' discount. Pricing is the other constant: customers moving from larger suppliers describe Auburn Oil's per-gallon prices as the lowest in the area, and repair pricing as reasonable. Two Nextdoor neighbours in Oxford and North Oxford said much the same in February 2026, one citing 24-hour emergency service and a friendly office. The caveat is age and depth, not quality: the record runs only from late 2024, and every one of the 34 reviews on file is positive, so there is no account of how the company handles a job that goes wrong. The reviews themselves read as genuine — varied in length and voice, naming specific staff, dates and incidents — but a homeowner should still confirm licensing and insurance directly, and ask what the service plan covers before winter.
