The July 2025 account described being seventeen months into a contract signed in January 2024 with no single room completed, water in the basement and stretches of days without heat. The December 2024 account described a house that flooded after months of asking for it to be weatherproofed. Both told readers to pin every detail and every completion date to the contract, because payments are heavily front-loaded. That sits against a long and genuinely detailed run of praise. The company is based at 28 Phillips Brooks Rd in Westwood and is owned by William Germaine — "Bill" in nearly every review — with BBB recording a start date of 1 January 2001, incorporation in 2002, and five employees. It has been BBB Accredited since March 2003 and carries an A+ grade. What people hire them for is whole-house work: additions, second storeys, garages, basements, bathrooms, kitchens, roofing, siding, windows and hardwood floors. In a January 2018 review a homeowner walked through three bathrooms gutted to the studs, plumbing and lighting reconfigured, and named the crew individually. A January 2017 reviewer credited foreman Vinny and a tile setter named Francesco by name; a January 2025 reviewer was on their second B&B project seven years after the first. Most recently, in June 2026 a homeowner described a roof done immediately, then windows, then a front entryway. The complaints are not new either, and they rhyme. In a December 2016 review a West Roxbury homeowner described a kitchen and bath remodel where the City of Boston's building inspector cited failure to insulate kitchen walls, obstructed electrical boxes and improper blueboard, needing four visits before compliance; that contract ended by mutual agreement. An undated BBB review calls the owner "not trustworthy" over a garage addition contract. So the thing to ask about is schedule and payment structure, not craftsmanship — the praise for finished work is specific and consistent across a decade, while the negatives cluster tightly on timelines, front-loaded payment schedules and weather protection during long builds. Houzz's own sub-scores line up with that: work quality 4.1, but communication 4.0 and value 4.0. B&B is a reasonable call for a large addition or multi-room renovation if you go in with a written milestone schedule, payments tied to completed stages rather than the calendar, and an explicit weatherproofing obligation. BuildZoom shows a "Verified License" badge and states the company holds a Home Improvement Contractor licence plus two others, but publishes no numbers — confirm the HIC registration and construction supervisor licence directly with the Commonwealth before signing.
