B&L Pools, Inc. builds in-ground swimming pools out of a store at 303 North Main Street in North Uxbridge. The company says on its own site that it has been at it since 1985 and describes itself as family-run — "Our family brings the Design, Build & Relax concept to each family with over 40 years of experience" — and it pairs pool construction with a retail counter and a service department covering water testing, openings, closings and equipment upgrades. The strongest recurring praise is for the builds themselves. Customers who had a pool installed describe a crew that explained the filtration system and made sure everything was right, an owner named Paul who worked with them before, during and after construction and who went out of his way to save one customer money on water delivery, and — in a 2023 review — a pool installed twenty years earlier that was still in excellent condition. Staff on the counter draw repeat praise by name for water testing and salt-water advice, in one 2023 case for a caller the company could not even service. The complaints cluster around service rather than construction, and they are worth reading before you call. A 2025 reviewer said that four years after B&L installed their pool a technician spent about half an hour on the equipment and left with no diagnosis passed back by phone, text or email. A 2023 reviewer was given chemical dosing directions at the counter that left a small above-ground pool cloudy for a week, though the same reviewer said the owner was helpful once he heard about it. And in 2022 a first-time owner of an above-ground pool was told the company was only taking in-ground work and found the person on the phone rude — the business's own site is an in-ground pool site, so above-ground owners should confirm before making the trip. One credential point matters here: the Massachusetts registry shows Home Improvement Contractor registration 116764, held under the trading name B & L POOLS & SPAS, as EXPIRED, with an expiration date of 17 July 1998. Pool construction is home-improvement work, so ask the company directly about its current registration and insurance before signing, and verify whatever it tells you with the state. The fit is clear: a long-established local in-ground pool builder with a real store behind it, well suited to a new build, a liner replacement or ongoing water care in the Blackstone Valley — with the registration question and the after-sales communication both worth settling in writing up front.
“Call B&L Pools in Uxbridge. They are phenomal”
Good all around pool service and parts availability.
Approximately four years ago, B&L installed a large pool in my backyard. Last month, I observed an anomaly in the readings of my pool junction box. I brought a water sample to their Uxbridge store and spoke with Nick, who explained how to reset the equipment. After resetting, I emailed Nick to provide the results. He requested an appointment for a technician to inspect the equipment. A technician visited my house and spent approximately 30 minutes on the equipment before departing. I did not receive any phone calls, texts, or emails with a diagnosis. The following day, the technician returned without our knowledge and spent another 30 minutes in the backyard before leaving. Once again, no information was provided about the work performed or the reason for his return. The following day, I received an email containing an invoice for $1,300.00 for the replacement of parts. This replacement was carried out without my knowledge or consent. I contacted the store and spoke with Nick, who appeared to be unaware of the situation. His supervisor, Eliye, was summoned to address my concerns. Surprisingly, when I expressed my frustration regarding being billed $1,300.00 for work without my approval, Eliye responded that he would return to my property and install the damaged component, necessitating that I pay for the service call. During our phone conversation, I maintained that this was not an appropriate business conduct, and that B&L pools had never taken the time to comprehend my frustration. They continued to make excuses for their actions, claiming that they had been doing this for years and that I was the first person to disagree. As a licensed general contractor in Massachusetts with over two decades of experience, I firmly believe that neither I nor my contractors should visit clients’ homes to perform repairs without their knowledge or consent. This practice is not only unethical but also detrimental to the reputation of any business. I strongly advise against using this company’s services, as such actions have resulted in financial losses, time wastage, and frustration for me. It is evident that profit is their primary objective, disregarding the importance of building trust and maintaining positive relationships with clients.
Loved B&L pools from the moment I met them and they installed my pool. Super professional, so easy to work with and everyone is so friendly. Love my pool and would HIGHLY recommed using them if thinking about installing a pool!
Good guys filled a few of there pools
Love the pool, the crew was great to work with, explained nuances of the filtration system and ensured everything was as it should be. Paul helped save me money on water delivery during the process too which I thought was really nice of him to go out of his way to do so. We’re about one year into the pool being complete and it’s been one of the best things we’ve ever done
