Ask about John. Nearly every customer who wrote about All Pool Service names him — a 2016 HomeAdvisor reviewer said he had used John for about 25 years and that "he always does a great job. He is pleasant and his prices are reasonable" — and the two people who wrote the worst accounts name him too. The company works out of Upton and says it started in 1993 to service gunite pools no matter who built them, because local builders would only look after their own; it says it was incorporated in Upton in 1995, which matches the 1/1/1995 start date on its BBB file. Gunite is the specialism, and the boundary is set in capitals on its Angi listing: "SORRY, WE DO NOT WORK ON ANY ABOVE GROUND POOLS." Openings and closings, tile and plaster repair, winter safety covers, heater and equipment work. Written feedback runs 2012 to 2023, and it splits by platform. Angi and HomeAdvisor carry the same 13 reviews mirrored on both sites — not 26 — averaging 4.6, and the detail in them is about turning up: a 2019 customer whose fall closing ran late, with leaves piled on the pool bottom, wrote that the crew cleared it, closed and covered the pool "At a fair price" and called them "a keeper". A 2021 reviewer paid $325 for a closing and said the guys did a fine job. Google reads harder — 3.5 stars from 8 ratings — and a 2022 reviewer wrote that after booking a pool opening they "Never showed up and never responded to our emails, phone messages or texts." A 2016 Angi reviewer described the same failure from the other end: good work, but the system left disconnected and a week of calls unreturned. That is the thing to pin down. Communication is both what the satisfied customers praise and what the dissatisfied ones describe collapsing, so fix the appointment date, who is coming, and how to reach someone if the day passes. Angi and HomeAdvisor both state free estimates, and both state no emergency service and no warranties. A sensible call for an inground gunite pool near Upton, especially for seasonal openings and closings from someone who has been doing them locally for three decades. Confirm the visit in writing before the season fills up, and bear in mind that the newest written account of their work dates from 2023.
John and Alex have been very reliable people that I can always depend on for my pool needs. They have always arrived on time and have a fantastic job in closing the pool. John is a treasure trove of knowledge and has helped me understand a lot of things with my pool. The most important thing about John is, he very ethical and does a good job Everytime he comes by.
Wish we saw these other reviews before making an appointment with John for our pool opening. Never showed up and never responded to our emails, phone messages or texts. What a lousy business person.
John was very nice on the phone and set an appointment to close my pool. His guys showed up and did a fine job. 325$
Very nice NaN.
I really hate having to chase after service people that I'm paying to do a job. I was pleasantly surprised how responsive All Pools was. Fall closing got behind this year and I had a huge accumulation of leaves at the bottom of the pool. They took care of that for me, completely closed and covered the pool for me. At a fair price. They are a "keeper" for me.
