Dolphin Pool & Construction is a South Grafton pool company with a long stated history: BBB says it has been in business since 1993 and identifies John Russell as president. BuildZoom lists 99 permitted projects and describes pool construction, remodeling, maintenance, and pool-house work, while BBB lists pool contractors as its service. The written customer history is dated, running from 2016 through 2021, and it is unusually consistent about the risk to investigate. A July 2021 homeowner said a November 2020 installation was only okay and that the remaining balance was expected on the last construction day regardless of unfinished work; a June 2021 review described a liner that bubbled away from the wall after a 2019 installation and months spent trying to get a response. There are positives, but they are narrower. In May 2021, one customer said the installation was extremely timely, even while reporting concrete problems that needed fixing and difficulty getting ahold of the company. A 2021 Stoneham review called the installation fine but said fill, gravel, and large stones were left across the lawn and driveway. An older September 2016 review also raised concerns about pool-maintenance advice after the reviewer contacted the company about a home pool. Before booking, confirm exactly what completion means, how the final payment is tied to outstanding work, who handles liner or concrete corrections, and how site materials will be removed. The Massachusetts HIC license 113741 is registry-verified expired, so verify the company’s current registration and the scope of any license before signing; BuildZoom likewise lists that HIC license as inactive. Dolphin may fit a homeowner comparing an established pool installer with a substantial project history, but the dated complaints make contract terms, cleanup, warranty response, and current licensing worth settling in writing.
Agree with the recent comments from other pool owners. Dolphin installed our pool in November 2020 and did an okay job. They will want the remaining balance of the job paid the last day of construction regardless of what is remaining at the job. All of the fill dirt installed around our pool has to be replaced in order to install our patio which is not how it was described when purchased. The solar cover that we purchased was not provided during the install and we called for months to get the cover which finally arrived at the end of June. We were told that someone would come out to our home in the spring to open the pool and show us how to program the pump and heater… no one has come out… we figured it out on our own. When we did open the pool in the spring we had a leak and Dolphin did answer that call and corrected the issue. Overall poor customer service and follow through…
Dolphin Pools installed our pool in November of 2019. Once we opened it up in May of 2020 and got it all cleaned out we noticed issues with our liner. A very large area of it doesn’t sit flush to the wall and just bubbles off the wall. I spent the better half of the summer calling and texting Ed to discuss our issue. Not once did I get a response back. Finally in September he called and came out only because potential new customers for him put my name out there that they weren’t happy how he was doing business in regards to us and our problems. Once he came out, he told me that his brother and him had hoped this would have settled by now( so they knew they left the job that way). And Ed left things as he would get this fixed for us in the spring of 2021 and would let the liner guy know. March 1st I made my first phone call out to Him to get things scheduled for them to replace our liner…. Got a phone call 2 weeks later from his son that someone would get back in touch with me and I’m still waiting after me calling several more times and no one responding back to me. Mistakes happen and things can go wrong but if you are running a business for as long as they have been on the buyers end we expect a certain level of professionalism and honesty. They expect there money immediately and we expect the job to be done correctly.
Dolphin Pools excels in some areas and falls flat in others. They were extremely timely in the installation of the pool. That being said their were some issues with the underlying concrete to the pool that needed to be fixed and we have been trying to get ahold of them for over 6 months now. They have an answering service and our calls are never returned and reached for opening of pool with no feedback. Per some of the other reviews there is no direct way to get ahold of anyone so it is up to them as to when to return your call. Unfortunately customer service outside of the initial install when they make the $ is lacking.
I had Dolphin install my pool in Stoneham and the install was fine but the took ALL the fill, gravel and stones they dug up and placed it all around my 10k sq foot lot! Directly on top of my pristine lawn and even in my driveway! Thousands of baseball to beachball size boulders spread all over my property! EXTREMELY unprofessional, I am still removing boulders over a year and a half later and no where done! I’m extremely unhappy with this outcome. I have contacted him and still no reply, Definitely NOT recommending this company.
I purchased a home and the seller left the contact information and recommendation for Dolphin Pools who built and maintained their pool. I contacted other pool services, but they insisted that I drained my pool below the skimmer (which my manufacturer clearly says I should never do). Therefore I contacted Dolphin Pools. I simply cannot believe how this business operates. I started calling them early October 2015, and couldn't get my pool closed until the week of Thanksgiving. The receptionist was extremely rude and impatient, and told me she would take my name and number and a message. The people who actually close the pool don't have a number or email address where they can be contacted, so if for any reason you miss their call, (which I did, since I work until 3 PM) you're out of luck. They call from a private line and would not leave a message, and they won''t try calling again. After a week went by I called again, and the same thing would happen. They called, no message, and no more attempts. I was begging the receptionist to tell them to leave a message and tell me when I could expect them, and she simply said "I can only give them your name and number, and it was up to them." It's closing time, and I called them a week ago. I don't answer to unknown callers, so they probably called, but again, no message, and we're back to the same phone tag game of last year.
