Baker Incorporated is a Middleton, Massachusetts general contractor founded, by its own account, in 2012 by Denise Perry and Wesley Baker, who say they first worked together leading the $36 million restoration of the Boston Opera House in 2004. The company says it now takes on accessibility modifications, additions, kitchens, baths, new homes, commercial remodels and tenant improvements, and that part of its mission is employing people with disabilities. What it does not have is a customer record. Google carries a single 4-star rating with no written account behind it, and both Houzz and BuildZoom show the profile with no reviews at all. There is nothing here from homeowners describing an actual job, so there is no basis for a rating. The credentials are worth checking yourself. Both owners are described as holding Massachusetts unrestricted construction supervisor licences, with Boston ABC and Cambridge city licences alongside them, and BuildZoom lists Massachusetts construction supervisor licence CS-107967 - but it prints that same number twice, once as active and once as inactive and 'at one point cancelled'. Every one of those is a directory or self-reported claim, not a verified credential, so confirm CS-107967 directly with the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety before hiring. There is also a plain contradiction about what this company is. Its own website, a nearly empty two-page site, describes a specialty source-and-supply business for entertainment venues - acoustic panels, carpeting and fabric wall coverings - while its directory profiles describe a residential general contractor. Its sampled permit history leans the same way as the website: theatre entrance work in Randolph and a Roxbury kitchen and bathroom demolition, with only a 2011 Acton porch and a 2007 Pepperell permit on the residential side. This is a plausible call for a structural or commercial-scale project, or for accessibility work, where the owners' credentials matter more than a review history. Ask for recent homeowner references and confirm both the licence status and that residential remodeling is genuinely current work.
