I initially gave Bruno and his business a 5-star review because they admittedly do quality work. But here's the thing... he didn't finish the porch repair job I hired him to do. There were signs from the beginning. He was super responsive until I gave him a down payment, then started ghosting me right away to the point where I thought I was going to have take him to small claims court. After weeks of unanswered calls, texts, and eventually some stern threats to get my money back, he finally responded to schedule the work and had his crew show up. To my surprise, they were excellent -- fast, respectful, quality work. Genuine props there. The only part they didn't finish was the staining, which Bruno told me would have to be done a few months later. No problem. I paid him for most of the work and withheld $500 for that portion. Now, months later, the same ghosting. It's been weeks and it's clear to me Bruno has no intention of finishing the job. He got what he wanted and he's transactional enough to see that as perfectly acceptable. The irony is that, when I hired Bruno, he gave me this whole song and dance about how he's all about relationships. Stick to your word, do a good job, tell your friends, blah blah blah. I wanted to like them and give them more business because of the quality of their work, but this kind of unprofessional behavior isn't acceptable. I recommend working with another contractor who deserves your trust.

While there were some initial hiccups getting the work scheduled, I am very satisfied overall with the quality and professionalism of Bruno's crew. I would definitely hire them again. After signing the contract, there was a period where it was tough to schedule a firm date. This included several "soft" commitments on timeframe that were not met. To the credit of Bruno and his business, this was during a particularly snowy winter, where weather was big factor. However, once we eventually got an exact date set, it was a breeze. Bruno's crew is highly professional. They showed up on time, did outstanding quality work, got the job done faster than expected, and did it with remarkably little mess or disruption. If it weren't for the beautiful new porch, I wouldn't have even known they were there. I am seriously impressed. They even found a part of my porch that was unsafe (outside the scope of work) and fixed it at no extra charge. They clearly take pride in their work and it shows. Overall, I highly recommend Bastos and plan to hire them again.

We're happy with the work that Bastos Construction did on our deck. They met and exceeded expectations. They worked until the job was finished. We have no reason not to hire them for another job.

We are very pleased with the completeness and quality of the rebuild of our external stair case and closet. Bruno gave us the best advice and a fair price. Paulo and his colleague who did the work were hard working, careful, and very professional. As you can see from the photos, it is high quality and looks great. In the photos you can see how much rot there was, then the completed demo, then two pictures of the finished job. (They are coming back in the spring to paint it to match the house paint.)
