Baystate Group Builders is Victor Rodrigues — a Blackstone contractor whose Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active in his own name — and the work homeowners describe is the big stuff: additions, whole first-floor renovations, finished basements, and gut kitchens and baths. Permits back that up rather than just the reviews. BuildZoom counts eight permitted projects, six of them in the last three years and weighted toward additions: a $367,456 addition in Needham Heights, a $70,575 Needham Heights kitchen-and-bath gut, a Carlisle two-car garage with a master suite above and a four-season porch, a Mendon basement. Its score of 117 puts the company above 99% of the 139,240 Massachusetts contractors it tracks. Houzz shows 52 projects, three awards, and a typical job cost between $100,000 and $5.8 million. What runs through the reviews is repeat business. One homeowner writing in May 2020 had used him for a deck, a master bath and a basement; another that month had done several renovation projects. A January 2025 reviewer said the team built two additions on their Wayland house, both on schedule. In February 2025 a customer counted three jobs — a second garage bay, a deck converted into a three-season room, and a stall shower and linen closet turned into a walk-in shower. A property investor writing in September 2019 said he had worked with Victor several times on $100k-plus flips. The difficult projects are the ones worth reading. A December 2021 reviewer's addition sat eight months in a town zoning appeal through COVID and then hit material shortages; they said Victor kept it moving regardless. A November 2022 client whose supposedly easy job turned into a nightmare wrote that he never gave up once, and kept coming back within hours or days with another way to do it. The most recent account, from March 2026, describes a full first-floor renovation with a large addition, a crew on site every day, and no slip in the schedule. Two things to know before calling. The reviews arrive in bursts — five posted on a single day in December 2024, five more inside three weeks in May 2020 — so read them as solicited waves rather than a steady stream. And this is an additions-and-custom-homes outfit at heart; the price band Houzz publishes starts at six figures, which makes them the wrong call for a small repair. For an addition, a whole-floor renovation or a finished basement anywhere from the Blackstone Valley up through MetroWest, Baystate is unusually well documented: an active registration, a real permit history, and a long line of clients who hired him more than once. Confirm which licence covers your job and get the scope in writing before signing.
