In an April 2023 review, a homeowner called Ben Chandler creative, responsive, and solution-oriented when problems came up mid-build — the kind of praise a from-scratch custom home tends to earn or lose fast. Bennett Chandler Design & Construction is a Brookline, New Hampshire builder that designs and builds custom luxury homes, with Chandler himself overseeing design, permitting, and client relations. A December 2024 review describes a family living in Minnesota during their 2023 Hollis, NH build, making repeated trips to weigh in on material selections and electrical layouts with Chandler's team, led on-site by Eric Taylor. The company says it grew out of the Canney Hill Woods subdivision Chandler began developing in Brookline in 2006 — he returned to building homes himself after the 2008 recession slowed lot sales there. Houzz lists it as family-owned, with service areas across southern New Hampshire and nearby Massachusetts. New Hampshire doesn't register general contractors, so there's no state license to check here; Chandler's website separately lists a Massachusetts Construction Supervisor license (044803, unrestricted, 1986) that hasn't been checked against that state's registry. For a from-scratch custom build with Chandler staying hands-on through design and permitting, this is a short but strongly positive track record — worth asking for references from a recent Hollis-area client before committing.

In October of 2023 we moved into a home completed by Ben Chandler and his team led by Eric Taylor in Hollis NH. We were living in Minnesota during the project and made numerous trips during the construction process to address material selections, electrical layouts and numerous other decisions. Building long distance is more difficult and the key to a great outcome is having an impeccably honest, candid, knowledgeable and imaginative builder. Ben is all of these. Every option is explained both in terms of costs and benefits. Most importantly there were no “surprise” up charges as allowances were fully disclosed in detail. Our house came in on budget. The punch list follow up was good as well. Ben does not cut corners so lower bids can be found though, finding a lower cost than Ben, for what you actually have built, is far less likely. Ben is a skillful designer but, just as important an exceptional listener who will implement your vision. Ben’ construction superintendent and coordinator, Eric Taylor is PASSIONATE about delivering the highest quality workmanship. He is a wealth of knowledge for anyone building a house and another reason you want to build with Ben. Bottom line, I would build with Ben and Eric again. A no brainer.
Ben and his team were amazing through the entire process of building our dream home. Ben is creative, responsive, and always solution oriented when a problem arises - which they do when building a house! You can see my cat agrees, too!
