Bernie Gage Plumbing & Heating holds a 3.9★ average from 25 Google ratings. The company says it has been in business 40 years and names Franklin, Grand Isle, Chittenden and Fairfield as its service area, and its website advertises 24/7 emergency service. A 2024 customer said the company sent someone right out one morning for a specialty lift pump, cleaned the other pump and found it needed only a switch at $75 instead of $750 for a whole new unit. A 2024 customer wrote that when their boiler broke, they did everything they could to fix it before eventually replacing it, and fought with the manufacturer over the warranty. A 2024 customer said they came right out for a hot water heater problem, replaced the faulty thermostat and, because the tech noticed it, fixed the dryer vent. A 2022 customer said the company replaced a boiler, presented a comprehensive quote and helped with an Efficiency Vermont rebate. A 2022 customer said Bernie's son came out at 1am and traveled 30 miles one way. A 2023 customer said that after routine boiler maintenance there was a persistent oil smell, that two more attempts did not fix it, and that another company remedied the issue quickly. That 2023 customer also said the office manager was rude on a follow-up call and hung up on them. A 2023 customer said Stephen did a thorough site visit for renovation plumbing work, but that a follow-up email asking for a timeline was never answered. A 2022 customer said travel time was billed from wherever the technician happened to be, so a 54-minute visit was billed as two hours of labor, and that it took four visits to fix their furnace; the bill was adjusted only after several phone calls. A 2022 customer said a tech showed up at 1:30 for a 2-4 appointment, never called and left. A 2021 customer said they were billed for a second service call that took five minutes and that it took over a week to get anyone to answer the phone. A 2025 customer said a visit for possible kitchen sink and bathroom leaks had to be rescheduled because of an emergency, and wished the company had called.
Fast, no fakeouts or unnecessary recommendations, just great service from great people at fair prices for their work. Glad to have worked with them and will definitely come back for future needs. They are great!
Called for repair for a possible leak in my kitchen sink and a leak in my bathroom. Due to them having an emergency had to reschedule. I understand emergencies come up but would've been nice for them to at least call and give me the option to reschedule or thefact that they had an emergency as you shouldn't leave customers hanging. Hopefully they show tomorrow.
I've used Bernie Gage for a few minor repairs over the years and they've always done a great job. But this December was when our boiler broke and the team really shined. They did everything they could to fix it before eventually having to replace it. They fought with the manufacturer for our warranty. From the service team onsite to the staff at the office, everyone went above and beyond to make sure we had heat in time for Christmas. I can't recommend this company enough. They truly care about the people and homes they service.
Great company to work with great customer service and the techs are great to deal with they come in and get the work done in a timely manner I
Excellent service, and the communication to the customer is top notch. They actually show up when they say they are going to! Extremely satisfied!
