A recent Google customer had an AC system completely replaced by Blue Flame in one day: five trucks arrived around 8:30 AM, and by 4 PM both systems, one upstairs and one downstairs, were working. The company says on its website that it has been in business 97 years and offers repair and installation for air conditioning, heat pump and mini split systems. A 2025 customer wrote that the company handled their oil delivery and yearly service of the hot water heater and furnace, and installed a new hot water heater that year. A 2025 customer wrote that Blue Flame had supplied their oil for many years and that an annual furnace maintenance found some issues, which led them to switch to propane. A 2026 customer said they used Blue Flame for oil and furnace maintenance for 11 years while living in CT. A 2025 customer described an emergency oil tank leak: Blue Flame came out the same day to assess it and had a new tank installed within two days. A 2025 customer said that after other businesses couldn't come out for 2-3 days, Blue Flame came right away, and Nick and Ryan diagnosed the issues and had them running again in a couple hours with parts in stock on the truck. A wtnh.com report has described employees at Blue Flame Oil working around the clock to deliver heating oil and fix frozen pipes. On r/newhaven, a reddit commenter wrote in 2025 that Blue Flame and Apple Oil had gotten them out of some jams in the past. A recent customer called the work professional but misleading and expensive: they said the company quoted one price for moving an oil line, later said the whole line would have to be replaced at a higher cost, and the final bill was higher still. A 2023 customer said a furnace cleaning was billed at double the price quoted on the phone. A 2025 customer who had switched to mini splits said the company came twice more after being told it no longer needed to deliver, and later declined to reimburse their oil after a technician had said it would. A 2026 customer said they contacted the company through its website and sent two follow-up emails but heard nothing beyond an auto reply.
“Blue Flame and Apple Oil have gotten us out of some jams in the past!”
“Employees at F.F. Hitchcock and Blue Flame Oil in New Haven told News 8 that they have been working around the clock to deliver heating oil and fix frozen pipes.”
Very customer oriented. No better service.
Yesterday i had my AC system completely replaced by Blue Flame. 5 trucks arrived at around 8:30AM. They were focused and got right to work. By 4PM both systems one upstairs and one downstairs were working perfectly. The guys were amazing, they did a beautiful job and when they left you would never know anyone was here working. I highly recommend them, their work ethic and attention to detail is hard to find these days.
Highly recommend Blue Flame! They are great to work with, easy scheduling and very punctual. The team is knowledgeable and efficient. Always happy with their work!
Overall: Professional work, but misleading and expensive. Bought a flipped house and the flippers had ran the oil line 65 feet around the basement floor edge to the furnace. I wanted to move it to the ceiling to get it off the floor, which would be a 61 foot run. Thus the bran new oil line on the floor was plenty long to reuse. I contacted BlueFlame, I told them what I wanted and they quoted me less then $400 for the work. I called a few other places and got quotes for around $700 to $1000. I decided to go with BlueFlame and called them back up. This was the first time they informed me that they would have to completely replace the oil line, and the total cost would be $700. The new line itself was $400! (The first time I talked with them, I clearly told them about the new/current 65 ft line and the overhead distance of 61ft; he made it sound like they would just reuse the current line.) They kept saying they can’t “guarantee” their work if they used the "old" cable. I felt committed at this point so we set up a time. The two technicians arrived in the prescribe window and got the job done in 1.5 hours. They did a nice clean job. However, they literally just put in a new line. A hand full of P clamps, a couple flared ends and connectors, and reconnected it. They even primed the line using the pump on the furnace. No new check valves, no fancy pumps. They mentioned it might be good to put in a tiger loop for an additional $200, but didn’t push hard when they realized they didn’t have one with them. The bill ended up being $850. Plus, they took at got to scrap out the old, actually brand new, ~$50 worth of copper line. The moment I understood the limited scope of what they were doing, I realized I could have just bent the cable up myself and attached it to the ceiling saving all this cost. Shame on me I guess for not doing a bit more homework.
Blue Flame Propane has been a breath of fresh air compared to other propane suppliers in the area. Their customer service is outstanding: responsive, knowledgeable, and incredibly easy to work with. What really sets them apart is the ability to communicate directly with someone who can actually help when you need assistance, instead of getting lost in automated systems and endless callbacks. Their team is efficient, professional, and genuinely cares about their customers. From deliveries to service questions, every interaction has been handled quickly and with a high level of attention to detail. If you value reliability, excellent communication, and a supplier that treats you like a customer rather than an account number, I highly recommend Blue Flame Propane.
