Massachusetts does not require a home improvement contractor registration for floor-covering-only work. For a floor going into a Norwood-area house, the practical question is who you are actually contracting with. If BM is arriving through a store, settle before the crew does who handles a callback when a seam lifts or a transition is wrong — the retailer or the installer — and get that answer in writing.
