Bob Foss Contracting is a Lexington, Massachusetts general contractor whose most visible online history is trouble, not craftsmanship. Two Google reviews and a pair of 2016 news reports leave a paper trail worth reading closely before calling. One reviewer describes being stiffed $6,000 after being subcontracted to spray-foam insulate a customer's house, and says calls and letters afterward went unanswered. Another, from a church that hired the company to reshingle its roof, says a promised 25-year warranty wasn't honored when new shingles came loose years later and the company charged for the repair instead of covering it. The more serious matter is a 2016 Massachusetts Attorney General's grand jury indictment: agencychecklists.com and the Lowell Sun both reported that owner Robert Foss was indicted on four counts of workers'-compensation fraud, accused of misclassifying roofing employees to avoid roughly $120,000 in insurance premiums between 2009 and 2012. Neither report states how the case was ultimately resolved. The company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, verified against the state registry, currently shows expired. Its two Google ratings average 1.5 stars. Anyone considering hiring this company should ask directly about the license status, get everything — including warranty terms — in writing, and confirm any subcontractors have actually been paid before work begins.

This guy burned me $6000 by contracting our company to spray foam insulate a customer's house & never paid. Wont answer calls or letters. He is a thief. Do not hire this guy you will be making the worst mistake in your life. He belongs in jail.
We had Foss Contracting reshingle the roof on our church 18 years ago. Last year, when we called him to replace shingles that blew off, he charged us! Bob does not stand behind his work. So much for the 25 year warranty. I called him again this year because more shingles have blown off. Have not heard back from him. Guess that is because I suggested that he should replace these four at no charge.
