Stefan Parchev started as a finish carpenter on Nantucket before founding SHP Fine Carpentry, a Lexington custom woodworking studio whose Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. Custom cabinetry and built-ins are the throughline across nearly every review: a wardrobe designed and built to exact specifications with crown molding matched into a cathedral ceiling, a kitchen cabinet crown-molding job solved around an out-of-level ceiling with what one reviewer called a genius fix, and multiple custom closets and mudroom storage systems built to picky homeowners' exact requirements. He also does repair work that calls for a different kind of skill — reinforcing an interior staircase, fixing a broken stair tread, repairing rotten window timber, and in a 2023 review, matching new trim and shelving into a crooked 1870s Victorian home. Reviews span 2022 to 2026 and stay at five stars throughout, with repeat customers coming back for a second and third project after an initial kitchen refresh. A bark.com mention separately noted a deck finished on time with work called great quality. For custom cabinetry, built-ins, or finish carpentry on an older or unusually shaped home around Lexington and the western suburbs, this is a licensed specialist with a long, detailed history of getting difficult custom work right.
“He finished our deck on time and the quality of his work is just great.”
We reached out SHP Fine Carpentry to build a custom wardrobe. Stefan worked with us and designed a layout of exactly what we were looking for. After designing the wardrobe, he built it to the exact specifications and finishing touches (crown molding to tie into our cathedral ceiling, custom handles, soft close drawers and doors). We are extremely pleased with the final product and the attention put into every detail. Stefan and crew were fabulous to work with.
Stefan is a master craftsman. Back in the day, I did a fair amount of cabinetry and finish woodworking, which is to say, I am a perfectionist. Stefan’s meticulous attention to detail, craftsmanship, and professionalism are all of the highest order. His price was very reasonable, especially given the project's small scale. He was particularly attentive to my needs as an octogenarian and worked closely with me to accommodate my specific requirements. I highly recommend him to you.
SHP installed the crown molding on our kitchen cabinets. The job was difficult because our ceilings were not even and very much out of level. SHP came up with a genius way to install the molding so that you dont notice the ceiling and the molding is level. He said it would take a day and that's what it took. He said what it would cost and that's what it cost. Clean up was great. Highly recommend SHP.
Stefan did beautiful work in my Belmont home! He completely transformed the look of my foyer and added much needed functionality with a custom storage bench and radiator cover. He brought great ideas to the table and was a pleasure to work with. He is a master of his craft!
5 stars. On time, quality work, respect for our property, great communication.
