SHP Fine Carpentry is a one-person shop run out of Lexington by its founder, Stefan Parchev, who says he started as a finish carpenter on Nantucket before opening his own business. The company describes itself as a custom woodworking studio doing finish carpentry, cabinetry, and remodeling work for homeowners across the Greater Boston area, and its Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license, #187806, checks out as active with the state. The work people hire him for shows up again and again in what customers describe: crown molding that has to tie into an odd ceiling angle, a closet or wardrobe built to fit one specific space exactly. In May, a client had him design and build a custom wardrobe from scratch, finished with crown molding worked into a cathedral ceiling, custom handles, and soft-close drawers. A January review called him a 'master craftsman' and specifically noted his patience working with an elderly client on a smaller job, at what she described as a reasonable price given its scale. Those two are the newest entries in a run of 19 reviews going back to 2022, spread across Google, Houzz, Bark, and BuildZoom, and not one carries a complaint. Google alone shows 29 ratings averaging five stars. The recurring themes are precision on tricky trim and cabinetry work, holding to the price and timeline he quotes, and cleaning up after himself. Worth knowing before calling: this is a one-man operation, so there's no larger crew behind him — a real factor to weigh for a big job with a tight deadline. His own site names Lexington as the stated service area, though reviewed work has ranged more broadly around the Boston suburbs. SHP is a strong call for detail-heavy carpentry — custom cabinets, trim, closets, built-ins — rather than a full gut renovation. Given the small but clean track record, it's worth confirming his current schedule and getting a firm quote for the specific scope before booking.

We reached out SHP Fine Carpentry to build a custom wardrobe. Stefan worked with us and designed a layout of exactly what we were looking for. After designing the wardrobe, he built it to the exact specifications and finishing touches (crown molding to tie into our cathedral ceiling, custom handles, soft close drawers and doors). We are extremely pleased with the final product and the attention put into every detail. Stefan and crew were fabulous to work with.

Stefan is a master craftsman. Back in the day, I did a fair amount of cabinetry and finish woodworking, which is to say, I am a perfectionist. Stefan’s meticulous attention to detail, craftsmanship, and professionalism are all of the highest order. His price was very reasonable, especially given the project's small scale. He was particularly attentive to my needs as an octogenarian and worked closely with me to accommodate my specific requirements. I highly recommend him to you.

SHP installed the crown molding on our kitchen cabinets. The job was difficult because our ceilings were not even and very much out of level. SHP came up with a genius way to install the molding so that you dont notice the ceiling and the molding is level. He said it would take a day and that's what it took. He said what it would cost and that's what it cost. Clean up was great. Highly recommend SHP.

Stefan did beautiful work in my Belmont home! He completely transformed the look of my foyer and added much needed functionality with a custom storage bench and radiator cover. He brought great ideas to the table and was a pleasure to work with. He is a master of his craft!
