Booma Oil has been delivering heating oil on Boston's North Shore since 1932, when Roland Booma and Dick Breed founded it as Booma-Breed — nearly a century later it's still a 26-employee outfit working out of Lynn. The company says it covers Lynn, Swampscott, Saugus, Lynnfield, and Marblehead, and beyond fuel deliveries it installs and repairs boilers, furnaces, and cooling equipment for North Shore homes. Google puts it at 3.9 stars across 15 ratings, though the tone across its ten reviews since 2021 runs closer to mildly positive than glowing — long-time customers describe the company as responsive when something needs fixing, but the praise isn't uniform. The one review from the last several months isn't about a repair job at all: a homeowner reported a company delivery truck running a red light near Western Ave and Chatham St without slowing down. Its Better Business Bureau file doesn't add much clarity either — Booma Oil isn't accredited there and carries no BBB rating, so that page mostly confirms the founding date and employee count rather than settling anything about service quality. For a homeowner already on oil heat who wants one company to handle both fuel and equipment service on the North Shore, Booma Oil's decades in business and wide coverage area are real. Just know there isn't much to go on beyond 15 Google ratings and a handful of reviews spread across five sources, and the one recent word about the company has nothing to do with a furnace or a boiler. Worth asking how the actual service has been lately before booking.

We've been nothing but happy with Booma. Most recently we called to ask for some help balancing our steam radiators to help make one of our children's rooms warmer. They came by that day and balanced our radiators. We thought we were going to have to get a space heater for the baby's room, but Booma saved the day. Thank you!

This company literally raked me over the coals. They left me without heat in the coldest wettest days. Watch out for Paul C. He's one con artist you don't want to deal with. I got very ill having no heat because of them.
