Michael Russo Plumbing & Heating has been working out of Lynn since 1970 — the company says 70 years, its BBB profile counts 56 since incorporation in 1974, but either way this is a business with real staying power. Family-run and named for owner Michael Russo Jr., it covers residential and commercial plumbing, heating, water heaters, and 24/7 emergency calls across Lynn and the North Shore. A recent review from this past May describes a textbook version of what keeps customers calling: a 100-year-old drain pipe failed in the cellar of a Lynn triple-decker, and the company looked at it the same afternoon it was called, with a fix promised for the next morning. That responsiveness shows up across years of reviews — in a January 2026 review, a homeowner said the owner Dave called back immediately after an after-hours pipe leak and had a crew out the next morning; in a 2025 review, another described Dave giving a fair estimate and his plumbers finishing a basement pipe repair ahead of schedule. Reviewers repeatedly name individual technicians for specific jobs: in a 2025 review, Anthony rebuilt a 1930s Symmons shower valve in a single visit; in a 2024 review, Steve replaced a set of old toilets; in a 2023 review, Chris spent two days tracking down a heating fault and got the part installed before the customer's family lost heat. In a 2025 review, a homeowner needing a specialized, expensive 199,000-BTU gas water heater said the company flagged the cost before quoting rather than after. One 2022 review stands apart: a customer said an associate left a job half-finished, then tried to charge double on the follow-up, with the work eventually completed by someone else for half the price. It's the only complaint like it among 33 reviews, but worth confirming who specifically is being sent before the job starts. The company's Massachusetts plumbing license is active, and its BBB page carries an A+ grade, though the business isn't BBB-accredited and the page shows no complaint history to weigh. Russo reads like a fit for both a middle-of-the-night pipe emergency and a bigger heating or water heater job — the person who answers the phone tends to be the one who knows the trade. Given the one dispute on record, it's worth confirming up front which technician is assigned before the truck rolls.
I live in a 100 year old "triple decker" in eastern MA. This is three flat apartments stacked, each 2 bedroom/1 bathroom. There is a 100 year old drain pipe on the kitchen side that connects the kitchen sinks on all three floors and takes a horizontal turn in the cellar toward a middle main drain that goes to the street. This pipe failed (after 100 years, mind you) right between the first floor and the cellar. D. Russo came and looked at the failure at 4PM after we called him at about 4 PM the previous day. He said he would have someone there to fix it the next morning (that is, today as I write this). Roger from Russo Plumbing was there on time, was very courteous and did a superb job pulling out the ancient pipes between the floor and the cellar. All told he probably took four hours to fix the pipes, including leaving and returning with the appropriate replacement parts. The photo shows the ancient pipes extracted and replaced. The cost of the repair was WAY below our expectations, considering how much work had to be done underneath a sink and up in the beams of the cellar ceiling. M. Russo Plumbing & Heating is highly recommended.
Ran into a plumbing issue with a leaking pipe after business hours. The owner Dave called me back immediately and walked me through the next steps. Had his guys over the following morning and fixed all my plumbing issues in a fast and timely manner. Great company couldn’t be happier with the service! Don’t hesitate to reach out for all plumbing needs. Everyone from the owner to the employees were a pleasure to talk to. 10/10
These guys did a job for me thru the sprinkler/irrigation company that I chose. They showed up to scope out the job and then showed up a second time to do the work. They showed up when they said they would, communicated well, and the work was done flawlessly. Very happy with their services and will use them going forward for any plumbing projects we have. Gordon, the plumber who did the install, was very nice and did great work.
Recently, I needed to replace our water heater in a condo that runs on gas for both heat and hot water, not your average setup. It required a specific 199,000 BTU water heater, which isn’t cheap. I was referred to Michael Russo Plumbing, a family-owned business with a great reputation, and after working with them, I now know why. When I first called and gave them the model and serial number, the owner personally answered. He immediately recognized it was a specialized and expensive unit. Instead of just quoting a price, he expressed real concern about the high cost and asked if he could call me back after doing some research. Sure enough, ten minutes later he called back. He had confirmed the specs, shopped around, and tracked down the exact model at the best possible price. That kind of honesty and effort is rare. And Nico, the installer — he couldn’t have been a nicer guy. He walked me through how the installation would go, made sure everything was clear, and got to work. Before I knew it, the installation was complete. Professional, clean, and smooth from start to finish. If you’re looking for a plumbing company that’s honest, responsive, and truly cares about doing things right, Michael Russo Plumbing is it. Highly recommend!
Never expected to have a positive enough experience with a plumbing company to feel I should share. I was impressed by the care in the workmanship. The customer engagement was exceptional. The price was very reasonable. The job was completed in one visit even though I had expected parts would need to be ordered (they were fixing a 1930s era Symmons Safety-Mix shower valve). Highly recommend them. Special thank you to Anthony, you are an excellent example of what the best plumbers are.
