Boston Building Concepts is Manny's company — nearly every review names him directly, and the projects he's known for run bigger than a single room: a full second-floor addition with three bedrooms and a bath, a 3,000-square-foot whole-home renovation after a water pipe burst, decks dug out of rot and rebuilt in composite. The company is based in Watertown and says it's licensed, insured, and has been doing residential remodeling — kitchens, bathrooms, additions, basements, decks and ADUs — across the western suburbs for 20 years. The review history runs from 2021 through mid-2026 and stays mostly hands-on and specific rather than generic praise. A 2023 review from two architects describes bidding out a 900-square-foot basement renovation to several companies and choosing Manny for his fair pricing and communication during scope changes. A 2022 review describes a home addition — new second floor, gutted kitchen, and a reinforced foundation — that ran more than a year with what the customer called clear communication throughout. A 2025 review describes him digging out rotted structural wood under a deck, tracing the source of the water damage, and staying within quote even after finding worse damage than expected; the same customer called him back the following year for a second deck. One thing worth weighing: a March 2026 review describes a decline partway through a project, including hardwood floors left unprotected under tile saws and damage that resulted. It's the lone negative account in an otherwise consistent run, so it's worth asking directly how site protection is handled before work starts. Houzz and Angi both list a Massachusetts construction supervisor license (CS-104829, expiring 2028) for the company, though neither directory's listing is a registry verification — confirm the license is current before signing anything. A good fit for a homeowner planning a real addition, gut renovation, or multi-trade project rather than a small fix — get a clear written scope given the one account of standards slipping mid-job.

We hired Boston Building Concepts for a kitchen and bath remodel in one apartment of a two family home in Watertown. It was a good experience. The estimate was clear to understand. We met on site and Manny answered our questions. It wasn't the highest or lowest bid. Manny was responsive to calls and texts. He even drove over to receive an after hour plumbing delivery which was very helpful. He worked well with the cabinet shop and problem solved our cooktop ventilation problem. We were able to coordinate subcontractors and tenants without too much trouble; for example: we upgraded the electrical service from 200 to 400 amps and this required power to be shut off for the upstairs tenant too. That was a necessary inconvenience but Manny worked to accommodate all parties. I appreciated Manny's efforts and would definitely use Boston Building Concepts again.
When we first hired Manny communication was great and he seemed easy to work with but as the project went on the quality and attention to detail declined significantly. Manny stopped proactively updating and communicating with us and we repeatedly found issues that should never have been overlooked. There were multiple examples of poor workmanship and avoidable mistakes. His team did not properly protect our newly refinished hardwood floors- putting down no protective materials and operating construction equipment like tile saws directly on the floors causing noticeable damage. While he ultimately paid to have the floors repaired, it was frustrating and never should have happened with a professional crew. Manny also scheduled the floor repair the day before our known move in date and did not communicate that we would not be able to move furniture in the next day causing a logistical nightmare when we showed up with the professional movers. We also had an issue with the electrical work: we clearly communicated where an outlet needed to be centered and the electrician marked the wrong spot. We caught this before the outlet was installed and Manny assured us he would make sure it was installed in the correct place. This was ultimately installed in the wrong location and he tried to charge us to move it even though it was his subcontractors error. Another example is in our bathroom where he never actually attached the backsplash- he just left it resting on the counter completely unsecured where it easily could be knocked over. The cabinet work was similar. Just one month after our new cabinets were installed one of the side panels fell off. It looks like this was attached with some cheap foam adhesive and not properly secured. The cherry on top occurred one week after we moved in (and had already paid the final invoice in full) when Manny let us know he'd be arriving with the building inspector the next morning. We had no idea he had not completed the final inspection as this was never communicated to us. When they arrived the building permit had been lost during move in which complicated the final sign off. While Manny did ultimately pay for the floor repair and gave us a small credit back for the inconveniences caused the overall pattern of poor communication, lack of attention to detail, and repeated avoidable mistakes made this renovation far more stressful than it needed to be. I would not recommend Manny/Boston Building Concepts. Edit [3/30/2026]: We’ve now been in our home for four months and continue to uncover additional issues with Manny’s work. Construction debris was left in the backyard after the job was supposedly complete. Cabinet side panels are still falling off due to poor-quality adhesive. Most recently, we discovered that the drain/strainer we provided for our kitchen sink was never installed. Instead, Manny’s team installed a different strainer, which has already broken and does not fit properly. When I asked about this, I was told they “couldn’t find” the one I provided (it was in the same box as the sink) and chose to install a “better” alternative without contacting me. I do not agree with that decision, and I should have been consulted before any substitution was made. We have since located the original strainer we purchased—it had been left in the back of the sink cabinet behind the pipes—and now need to hire someone else to correct the issue. If you value clear communication, attention to detail, and accountability, Manny is not the right fit.
We recently hired Boston Building Concepts for a bathroom remodel in Watertown, MA, and honestly, the whole experience exceeded our expectations. From the first consultation, they were professional, responsive, and genuinely listened to what we wanted. They helped us refine our ideas without pushing unnecessary upgrades, which we really appreciated. The quality of the work is outstanding. The tile installation is precise, the fixtures are perfectly aligned, and everything feels solid and thoughtfully finished. They kept the job site clean and organized, and the project stayed on schedule with clear communication throughout. What stood out most was their attention to detail and problem-solving. Anytime a small issue came up, they handled it quickly and confidently. Our new bathroom looks modern, functional, and beautifully done.
