Boston Cabinets is a kitchen design and cabinetry specialist based in South Boston, Massachusetts, founded by Peter Carr in 2004 and today closely associated with designer Marissa. The business focuses on cabinetry, countertops, and kitchen (and occasionally bathroom) installation and design work. Customer reviews from 2022 through 2025 are consistently detailed and enthusiastic. Reviewers repeatedly single out designer Marissa for creative solutions to challenging kitchen layouts, patient collaboration through multiple design revisions, and strong communication. In a 2022 review, a homeowner described Marissa promptly arranging replacements after cabinet doors arrived damaged from the manufacturer. Another 2022 review credited the team with a full kitchen and bathroom renovation in Newbury. A 2025 review praised working with designer Joy on the cabinets, and another 2025 review recalled cabinets Peter Carr himself designed years earlier that homeowners still receive compliments on. Worth knowing before hiring: a 2025 review from a self-identified vendor alleges the business owes $7,000 for past project work, describes repeated unanswered attempts to reach the company, and states a small claims case was being filed. This is a business-practice concern distinct from the customer-facing design reviews, which remain uniformly positive. Better Business Bureau records list the business under a 'Machine Shop' category rather than kitchen cabinetry, and it is not BBB accredited, though BBB confirms 18 years in business under owner Peter Carr. For a homeowner planning a kitchen or bathroom remodel in the Boston area, the strength and consistency of the design-focused customer reviews are notable — worth weighing against the unresolved vendor payment complaint.

BEWARE! We are a vendor of theirs and have worked with them on projects in the past. Recently they stiffed us for $7000.00. We have yet to hear from anyone within their company and have sent multiple emails, letters and called and left voicemails, to no avail. In the process of filing a small claims case against this company. This has been ongoing for months. BEWARE! Do not pay them upfront for ANYTHING!
We worked with Joy and couldn’t be happier!! She brought our kitchen dreams to life…more than we could’ve imagined! She was so lovely to work with. Highly recommend!! And the quality of the cabinets are amazing
Had the greatest of pleasure working with Marissa and her team. We worked with Peter before that and the cabinets he provided for our home still get complimented to this day. Stellar company. Great design choices.
I'd recommend Boston Cabinets to anyone. I had such a great experience working with them. Remodeling your kitchen can be such a stressful experience and they were so lovely to work with. From helping me find something I loved, working incredibly well within my budget and overall just helping me with advice through every step. Karina was the absolute bright spot of my whole kitchen remodel and I look forward to working with them again on future projects!
