Boston Ductless Systems, run out of Dedham by owner Cre Tsolias, installs ductless and heat-pump systems across the Boston area — and its calling card, review after review says, is how it handles the city's older housing stock. All 30 reviews on file, running from 2021 through this year across five sources, rate the company five stars, and Google alone shows 4.9★ from 41 ratings. The pattern in those reviews is consistent: estimators evaluate airflow and layout room by room rather than handing out a boilerplate quote, and the crew has routed lines through hallways, around low garage ceilings, and up to roof-mounted condensers to fit heat pumps into 100-year-old triple-deckers, a 1920s house with no prior A/C, and a stucco-exterior two-family. Several customers said Cre walked them through applying for Mass Save loans and rebates as part of the install. When something did go wrong — in a 2024 review, a customer noticed a malfunctioning indoor unit right after installation — Cre coordinated a swift replacement, which the customer then recommended to their own parents. There isn't much on the negative side. In a 2024 review, one customer said the install ran a little longer than expected, though they still called the finished work excellent. And on Reddit, a poster comparing 23 heat-pump installers for a Malden job in 2024 said a Boston Ductless quote came in about $7,000 above a competitor's — worth factoring in if price is the deciding line for you. The Better Business Bureau lists the company, non-accredited, with an A letter grade. For a mini-split or heat pump job in an older or oddly-laid-out home, this is a company whose reviews return to the same two things: a real design conversation before the estimate, and a crew that shows up and cleans up.
“shaving $7k off a Boston Ductless quote”
The Boston Ductless team pays close attention to the details. Evaluating your air flow, problem areas and cold vs warm weather contrast, they simply do not provide a standard estimate as our old house required a custom understanding of the challenges. Once the comprehensive estimate was complete, they guided me through enhancing our efficiency via MASS Save Partners and the rebate potential available. Overall it was an excellent experience, thank you again!
Boston Ductless Systems did a stellar job installing a 3 zone mini-split in my condo. Cre’s crew showed up on time every day, cleaned up their work, and were extremely respectful while I was working from home. Cre was fast to respond to my initial inquiry and didn’t shy away from the countless questions k had. I will be hiring Boston Ductless Systems again when my other, ancient, mini-split on the other side of the apartment kicks the bucket.
Did not hire them (yet!) but amazing phone support!

I highly recommend contacting Boston Ductless Systems if you need HVAC/AC or a Heat Pump water heater - absolute professionals, solid pricing, great service. We've worked with Boston Ductless twice. In 2024 they installed a ductless system while we were finishing our attic, and in 2026 they installed a heat pump water heater. Both times we have received quick call backs, great quotes, and fast service. For the ductless system, we didn't really know what we wanted and they walked us through a few different options. Based on what we wanted to do with the space and how often we planned to use it, the team recommended we go with a slightly smaller system than we had initially requested. It saved us some $ on the install, and has been absolutely perfect to meet our needs. Zero regrets and we really appreciated the honest recommendation when clearly we could've been upsold and never known. Then, the installation went very smoothly, only took a couple of days, and we've had zero problems since. In 2026 we reached out again, this time to replace our failing water heater. The team recommended a Heat Pump and from the time to us reaching out to the time we were getting hot water, it was about 2 business days. We sent over some photos of the space on a Friday, got a quote back the same day (which we promptly agreed to having already done a little research and already being very familiar with the team) and by Monday evening everything was completed. We had a small (quickly fixed with phone guidance) that evening and even though we sent a text, after hours, the owner reached out immediately, called us, diagnosed and fixed the problem over the phone, and checked back in to make sure everything was still working. Any other company we've worked with would've sent us to voicemail/left us on read or at most offered to come out the next day, but the team at Boston Ductless got us straightened out immediately like it was the only thing on their to do list. Incredible service. If we ever need anything related to heating/cooling or water heaters again, Boston Ductless Systems will absolutely be our first call. They're also the first, last, and only company we recommend when friends or family mention they're looking to have something done.
