A $17,000 kitchen and new powder room, finished in 37 days — that is the January 2017 job a client of Bostonian Remodeling describes, crediting Augi with ideas for the design and calling the crew talented. A bathroom renovation quoted at two to three weeks, written up in March 2018, instead ran several months with minimal work being done. Both jobs belong to this Medford company, which takes on kitchens and baths, basements, attics, decks, additions and painting. The written accounts run from 2010 to 2021. A May 2018 homeowner was excited by a main bath renovation and singled out the color and the finishing touches; an Angi customer in 2010 described clean, neat work and a mistake fixed on a return visit. What goes wrong here goes wrong on time and follow-through. In April 2019 a BuildZoom reviewer said a six-week project was still unfinished in month seven and described delay tactics used to drag the job out. The November 2021 Angi review is the blunt one — calls not returned, no-shows at the site, no cleanup, Azek railings put in upside down and crooked, a big slop on the stairs. A 2017 homeowner who had considered them for a portico says nobody showed for the appointment and nobody called back to reschedule. The licensing needs settling before anything else. A Town of Merrimac listing names Bostonian Remodeling, Inc. and Aguimar DeSouza and records home improvement contractor registrations 169655 and 196704 revoked on 3/10/21 for failure to pay a $1,900 administrative fine ordered in case 2019-289, with a default on the payment plan. Revoked is the state cancelling a registration, not a registration quietly running out. BuildZoom lists 169655 along with a Construction Supervisor licence, CS-106939; check both numbers against the Massachusetts state register rather than a directory profile. Its Better Business Bureau page carries an A+ grade, which sits oddly next to 0.5 stars from two Angi ratings and 3.0 from six on BuildZoom, where 67 projects are shown. If you are weighing them for a kitchen or a bath, start by getting the registration question answered from the state register, put the schedule and what happens when it slips in writing, and tie payments to finished work — the jobs that went badly here went badly on timing, communication and, in the 2021 account, the finish work itself.

The contractor did not return phone calls, did not show up to the site, did not clean up, the job is the worst I have ever seen. Azek railings were put upside down and crooked; the new stranger was also put crooked, leaving a big slop on the stairs. They had to subcontract someone else to fix their mistakes. We had to hire some one else to pick up the debrief they left in our yard for a month and a half. In the back deck they attached a post to a rotten been that the were supposed to change and then is when we fire them because we were done dealing with them.
Zero Stars. Horrible experience. Exactly the same as described by Ben H. He basically took a 6 week project and didn't complete it and we are in month 7. He uses delay tactics to drag out the job hoping you will eventually fire him once you've paid a good amount of money on the contract. Save yourself the grief and do not hire him.
Agiu and his crew did a terrific job. Great customer service. I was so excited with the final result of my main bath renovation. Color looks great and the finishing touches made all the difference. Highly recommend Bostonian remodeling INC.
Would not recommend. We initially went with Augie because he seemed to truly care about his work, and achieving the vision of his clients. We were told the job should last 2-3 weeks (bathroom renovation). We then spent several months with minimal work being done, calling daily without any calls being returned, or other communication. It even seemed Augie's team had a hard time getting in touch with him, which left us with the task of directing them on the project - something we hired a GC to avoid doing in the first place. It has now been seven months and the job is still incomplete. We haven't heard from Augi since February and are quite frankly tired of chasing him to try to get this job finished appropriately. In addition to the job not being 100% finished, the grout on our brand new tile floor keeps cracking, despite being retouched twice now, and doesn't feel level - which leaves us worried that we'll need to re-do the floors we just paid to have re-done in the near future. Augi is a nice guy, and we really wanted this to work - the few times we were able to get in touch with him or see him in person he seemed to care about the quality of the job - and making helpful suggestions - we just are totally worn out from having to drive this project forwards ourselves.
