Brait Builders Corp. works out of 57 Rockwood Road in Marshfield, on Massachusetts' South Shore. The Better Business Bureau records the company as having started in 2006 with five employees and lists it under Home Builders, and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 115058, is held in the corporate name. The work the public record actually shows is large-scale construction rather than kitchens and additions. BuildZoom's permit history turns up a single project in the past two years: a $70 million new high school and the accompanying sitework in Central Falls, Rhode Island. The three five-star Google reviews posted in October 2025 point the same way — each one praises a school building the company put up, and one reviewer says plainly that they attend classes in it. Those are compliments on a finished public building, not accounts of a homeowner's project. The one story about residential work is older and reflects well on them. In October 2013, WCVB reported that after a builder walked away from a Swampscott family's project to make their home accessible for a teenage son with cerebral palsy, Brait Builders Corp. stepped in and coordinated more than a dozen businesses donating time, supplies and expertise to finish it. Two things are worth settling before you hire them for house work. First, the state registry shows that home improvement contractor registration as expired, so ask what its current status is and get the number to check yourself — a Massachusetts HIC registration is what gives a homeowner access to the state's Guaranty Fund. Second, the review record is thin and pulls in two directions: Google averages 3.3 stars across seven ratings, the BBB shows an A+ grade with no complaints listed and no accreditation, and a December 2025 Google reviewer wrote only that they had a "horrible experience with the Braits" without saying what went wrong. BuildZoom separately attributes a commercial licence and three others to the Rhode Island license board, which is that directory's claim rather than a verified credential. On this record they read as an institutional and commercial builder who has done right by a residential client in a pinch. If you are hiring for a house project, ask for recent residential references, confirm the Massachusetts registration is active, and ask directly about the 2025 complaint.
