Build Remodel Design

In an April 2024 review, a Boston client wrote that he had been bringing Paulo Santos onto renovation projects for seventeen years. A May 2024 reviewer bought a fixer-upper in 2014, had Santos remodel it fast enough to move in, and kept calling him back for other work afterward. That is the shape of this outfit's clientele: people who hire it again. Build Remodel Design works out of Boston as a design-build firm — architectural design, remodeling and construction together, by its own description — founded and led by Santos, with an in-house chief carpenter, site foreman and finishing painter. The company puts itself at 17 years in business. The jobs customers describe are whole rooms and whole buildings, not small repairs. A September 2025 reviewer who owns a Boston property said the team gutted and remodeled several of its apartments and walked him through what would make the units more marketable. An August 2024 client described a major home renovation that started with a new footing and lally column. Kitchens come up often: a March 2025 reviewer had a kitchen remodel done, and an August 2025 client had a kitchen and living area renovated together. What reviewers keep coming back to is how the work is run. A September 2025 bathroom client said Santos spent one-on-one time walking them through the project; an August 2025 reviewer credited him with being upfront about costs; two others writing that month said the job finished on time and the site was left clean. A landlord, also in August 2025, said the crew had been on his properties off and on for more than two years and called the price reasonable. Two things are worth pinning down before you call. The firm sells design and construction both, so be clear which of the two — or both — your quote covers. And its written accounts all sit on its Google page, running from April 2024 to September 2025. For a gut renovation, a kitchen, or rental-unit turnover work where one person carries a project from drawings through to the finish, this is a sensible call. Ask Santos to break out the design scope and the construction scope as separate lines in the quote before you sign.
