Thirty-one building permits in East Boston, most of them raze-and-rebuild multi-family projects — that is the shape of Crespo Construction's actual work, and it is worth knowing before you call about a bathroom. The company works out of 82 Chelsea St and describes itself as a locally owned general construction and management firm handling residential and commercial renovations alongside ground-up mixed-use builds. BBB names Richard Crespo as owner; BuildZoom lists Ethan and Richard Crespo. How long they have been at it depends on who you ask: BBB records the LLC as incorporated in July 2022, Thumbtack states ten years in business, and Angi claims twelve years of experience. Angi also lists the same East Boston address under the legal name Crespo Realty and Investments. The customer accounts are warm, and they are old. Thumbtack shows 4.9 stars across 34 ratings, 94% of them five-star, with five written reviews running January 2018 to October 2019. What they describe is speed under pressure. One homeowner wrote in February 2018 that after a Monday-night emergency, Ricky came out with a plumber, quoted that evening, started work the next morning, and photographed the damage and repairs as the job grew past what anyone expected. Another, in January 2019, credited the crew with tracing a condo building's water leak and settling it within hours. A January 2018 review covers a boiler repair after an electrical fire in the relay, with an electrician and a plumber both brought to the scene and space heaters loaned out on a Sunday when the supply houses were shut. The bathroom side is thinner. A March 2018 customer facing a full gut wrote that Ricky helped prioritize the work and explained options and costs when an old house produced surprises — one fixture update, with more planned. Angi's three five-star ratings, two of them written in December 2017, and Google's two ratings sit on top of that. Two things to sort out before booking. First, currency: the newest written account dates to October 2019, and the only customer comment since is a two-word note on Google in July 2023. Second, fit — the permits are development work, so ask directly how a single-bathroom job slots into a schedule built around multi-family builds. On credentials, BuildZoom and Thumbtack both list Massachusetts home improvement contractor and construction supervisor registrations for the company; those are directory entries, so check the numbers against the state registry yourself. BuildZoom shows one home improvement registration, #190165, as inactive and previously cancelled, alongside four it lists as active. BBB grades the profile A+ without accreditation, and Thumbtack records a background check passed by Richard Crespo in October 2025. Right call for an East Boston owner planning a substantial renovation, an addition, or a project that needs permitting handled. For a single bathroom, pin down the schedule and who is actually on site before you sign.
“Good company.”
Good company.
Most responsive contractor I’ve ever worked with. We had a mess of a water damage situation and Ricky was with us every step of the way to remedy and get us back living in our home quickly. Wouldn’t hesitate to hire again.
Ricky and his team did a fantastic job identifying the source of a water leak in our condo building. They helped us resolve our problem within a matter of hours. I highly recommend them and will be calling them for future plumbing projects.
As a single person house owner its hard to do a complete bathroom gut. Ricky understood that and helped me prioritized different jobs in my house. The first of many, I hope, was the bathroom fixture update. Like any job on an old house, there were things we couldn't predict and Ricky helped me understand my options and cost. The bathroom looks great! Can't wait to start on the other projects!
I had an emergency on Monday night and contacted Crespo construction. Ricky came out with his plumber, assessed the situation, gave me a quote that evening and came back that next morning and began work. The initial problem was fixed immediately and was much worse than expected. Ricky took photos of the work, damage, issue and resolution along the way, keeping me updated with exactly what the situation was each step of the way. We encountered several unexpected issues and ricky and his crew were able to solve them and stay within the quoted terms of the contract with minimal ease and discomfort to my family during the process. Ricky did such a good job, he began work on a second project in my home that with the same attention to detail and care as the first. Ricky is most honest, reliable, fair contractor I have worked with. I would recommend him for any job big or small in the future.
