Burr Remodeling is a design-build general contractor working out of Plymouth, the kind of outfit homeowners call for a full kitchen or bath gut rather than a quick patch. The company says it has served the South Shore and Cape Cod since 1993 and is run by owner Bob Burr. Across Google and Houzz, the numbers line up: 4.8 stars from 18 raters on Google and a full 5.0 from 23 on Houzz, backed by 16 reviews going back to 2022 spread across seven different sources — a longer, more corroborated trail than most local contractors can show. In February, one client singled out the carpenters and office staff for professionalism, noting that changes were "addressed openly and directly in person and then in writing." The most recent review on file, from March, cuts the other way: a homeowner said she was charged $30,000 for converting two bedrooms into one and told to buy her own light fixtures, and described a worker telling her "Bob keeps bugging me for the last check" rather than Bob raising it with her directly. It's the kind of billing-and-communication friction worth asking about up front — pin down the fixture allowance and payment schedule in the contract before work starts. Its Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license, #194607, is verified active in the state registry, and its BBB file carries an A+ rating, though it isn't a BBB-accredited business and BBB lists 25 years in business against the company's own count of 33. Houzz separately lists a different HIC license number, #051541, worth asking Burr to reconcile before signing. For a sizable South Shore or Cape Cod remodel, the track record here is deep and mostly positive — just get costs, allowances, and payment terms in writing.

Nicole Peresada, married now. It took awhile to get my bedroom done, there were only 2 people working on it. Took about a month to convert 2 bedrooms into 1 bedroom, knock down a wall, build a closet, etc. What rubbed me the wrong way was the fact that I'm being charged $30,000 for the job and I was told to buy my own light fixtures? I don't see how that makes a bit of sense. There was one day where a worker approached me and said "Bob keeps bugging me for the last check". I'm sorry- if Bob wanted his money so bad he could have approached or contacted either me or my husband instead of having the worker say that to me. Was not happy about that and lastly, this entire project will now have been going on for over two months. I still do not have shelving for the closet, it’s just an empty room. The closet has been delayed and pushed back to the beginning of April. The project started at the end of January. This is unacceptable... I've been living now for over two months without a closet and still do not have one. My stuff is scattered everywhere, and I have nowhere to put it. $30,000 seems a bit much? We asked for a breakdown of pricing and were told they don’t do that. EDIT: I also want to add that the workers used OUR bedroom set as a shelf for their tools, which left stains/scratches on it, we were unable to move it out of the room due to lack of space so they told us that would be fine and they would place a cover over it, instead they used it as a shelf.

Bob Burr and his team of carpenters and office staff were a pleasure to work with. The entire team on the job site were skilled, timely and polite. What separates Burr from other tradesmen that we have worked with is their professionalism. Everything is agreed upon ahead of time and when changes occurred, they were addressed openly and directly in person and then in writing. The Burr office staff were in continual contact with us about the plans for each day and week, which kept us at ease throughout the project. We highly recommend Burr Remodeling and look forward to using them again soon.

Bob and his crew worked efficiently installing our new windows. They made sure to pay attention to every little detail going as far as laying drop cloths and sweeping the driveway for nails or screws daily! Everyone who has seen the new windows have commented on how good they look and how much brighter the rooms are now. Look no further if you want quality work at a reasonable price!

I put a heated tile floor in my new addition. The guys were very careful to cover the flooring where they walked in and out. They were pleasant, diligent, and did a fabulous job.
