By Design Construction, Inc. is a Bedford, Massachusetts general contractor that describes itself as handling commercial, medical, and residential construction, development, and management projects around the state — a history the company's website traces back to 1989. A 2016 construction-industry article named the company as general contractor on a project, working alongside architect Pando Associates. Its self-reported service area spans more than a dozen Massachusetts communities, from Bedford and Boston to Natick and Quincy. Two things are worth checking before hiring: the state registry shows the company's home improvement contractor registration (HIC #136806) as expired, and OSHA's site lists a current $1,500 penalty against the business. Anyone considering By Design Construction for a larger project should ask directly about current licensing status, insurance coverage, and references from recent work before signing a contract.
“BARNES buildings was brought on board during the design phase to assist Pando Associates, the architect for the project, and By Design Construction, Inc., the general contractor. ... The BARNES buildings group confidently took on the multi-faceted project despite the short timeline for completion. “We thank the owners of Canton Ice House for putting their trust in our company. This was a challenging, detail-oriented project with a very tight schedule. Our team worked together with the By Design management team to achieve success,” said Marty Barnes, President of BARNES buildings & management g”
