Cabot Building & Design, Inc.

Cabot Building & Design is a Dedham general contractor run by Christopher Cabot, built on additions, porches and kitchen remodels for homeowners in Dedham and the towns south and west of Boston. Its three Houzz reviews are genuine, individually-written homeowner accounts — one client hired Cabot three times running, for a major kitchen remodel, then a deck, then a garage; another describes a two-story porch addition with a new kitchen and family room, calling Chris "extremely accountable" and crediting him with creative suggestions that helped get a six-plus month project done on time and on budget. Those three reviews all landed within a few months of each other in the fall of 2016, so they're a decade-old snapshot rather than a current one — real accounts, worth reading, but dated. BuildZoom's permit record shows the same pattern: 17 permitted jobs in Dedham, West Roxbury, Newton Center, Sharon and Charlestown, including kitchen, bathroom and basement renovations and a roof deck, but only two permits in the past three years, the latest from December 2023. BuildZoom lists an active Massachusetts Construction Supervisor license (CS-056585) for the business, though its licensing block also bundles in several stale or mismatched local records — a Newton number tagged as both an electrical and a general contractor license, both expired since 2022 — that shouldn't be read as separate credentials. This suits a homeowner in Dedham or the surrounding towns considering a kitchen remodel or a home addition who's comfortable weighing a strong but decade-old review record against a permit history that's gone quieter in the last few years.
