All three written accounts of Chris Cabot's work land in one stretch of autumn 2016, and they agree on the same thing: he holds his numbers. One client, then on a third job with him — a major kitchen remodel, then a deck, then a garage — said he sticks to his estimates. In September 2016 another described a two-story porch addition with a kitchen and family room, built to high quality and finished on schedule. A third that same month said the work came in on budget across major and minor projects alike. Cabot Building & Design runs out of Dedham under Christopher Cabot, taking kitchen and bath remodels, additions, porches and general contracting in Dedham and the towns south and west of Boston. Houzz shows 34 projects and three Houzz Awards. The pace has slowed. BuildZoom records 17 permitted projects — kitchen, bathroom and basement renovations, a sunroom, a roof deck and a $598,000 garage, mudroom and bedroom addition across West Roxbury, Newton Center, Sharon, Dedham and Charlestown — with two of those permits falling in the past three years, the most recent in December 2023. The registration picture needs a direct question. BuildZoom shows a Massachusetts construction supervisor licence, CS-056585, that it verified active in July 2026, and separately lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #134406, as cancelled. Those are two different credentials. Ask for a current home improvement contractor number and check it against the state registry before you sign anything. For a Dedham-area addition, porch or kitchen, the 2016 accounts are specific, consistent and all name the same owner who still runs the business. Ask him for two references from jobs finished in the last couple of years.
