Cape Ann Floor Covering & Tile Center has been on Gloucester Ave since 1994, and the thing customers keep describing is the part most flooring buyers dread: the day the installers arrive. In a December 2024 review, a homeowner said the showroom made it easy to settle on a carpet, then Bob the installer wrestled all the furniture out, laid the wall-to-wall, and brought extra help back in to reset everything — including a busy A/V system. The company describes itself as family-owned and operated since 1994, running a walk-in showroom at 43 Gloucester Ave with no appointment needed and samples customers are encouraged to borrow and take home. It stocks carpet, hardwood, cork, vinyl, laminate, ceramic and porcelain tile and stone, plus floor and wall tile for bathrooms and custom showers, and says its sales staff is not commission-driven. BBB puts the start date at January 1994, names Jerry Mosley as owner, and categorises the business as floor installation. Price comes up too. A June 2025 customer said this was the best of three estimates, that delivery happened as promised, and that three LVP floors went in on schedule. What is worth knowing is how little of this is written down. Google shows 4.9 stars, but only fourteen people have rated the business and just four have written anything at all, spread across 2023 to 2025. Its BBB file carries an A+ grade, and that same page states plainly that the business is not BBB accredited — two separate facts, not one endorsement. BBB also lists the company as having one employee, while reviewers describe a named installer and additional crew on site, so ask who will actually be doing your install and whether they are employees or subcontracted. This is the right call for a Cape Ann homeowner who wants to see and borrow real samples before committing, and who values a fixed local shop over a big-box order desk. Before booking, get the estimate itemised — material, pad or underlayment, furniture moving, and old-floor removal — and confirm in writing who is installing and what the labour warranty covers.

The showroom experience was comfortable and it was easy to find a high quality carpet that suited our needs. Bob the installer effectively wrestled with all our furniture and efficiently installed the wall-to-wall carpet. Extra help arrived to carefully put the furniture back, including resetting our busy A/V system. Great job and beautiful result!
