Cape Associates keeps turning up in the same two roles on Cape Cod: the outfit that builds the house, then the one that comes back for the next twenty years of work on it. A homeowner writing in 2025 put it exactly that way — the company built their house, later handled a chimney rebuild and assorted upkeep, and was back for a small window project. It works out of 345 Massasoit Road in Eastham, and Houzz lists it as family-owned. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active and held in the company's own name. Across 36 reviews going back to 2011, the platform averages sit at 4.4 from 31 Google ratings, 4.7 from 22 on HomeAdvisor, and 5.0 from 12 on Houzz — where a good share of the write-ups come from architects, interior designers and suppliers who worked alongside the crew rather than from homeowners. Its BBB page carries an A+ grade. Most of the detailed written accounts outside Google were posted between 2011 and 2019, so the long-form history is dated even as the Google ratings keep arriving; the newest, from February 2026, describes a kitchen job — cabinet doors, sink, countertops and hardware — finished on the timing promised. What separates them from a general contractor who subs out everything is the payroll. A 2025 reviewer had the company's own electrician, Dan, replace a faulty arc-fault breaker and an outdoor receptacle and trace abandoned circuits from a subpanel. A December 2024 reviewer described a mini-split installation with condensers and conduit placed with care. And in a 2013 review, a homeowner recounted the crew replacing exterior trim, then calling while the owners were away to report shingles blown off in a storm and fixing them straight off. Two things to raise on the first call. Price is the recurring one: a 2023 Google reviewer called the work "shamelessly overpriced" while saying the quality itself was good, a 2024 reviewer said their 2022 roof bid was the highest of three, and homeowners writing in 2014 and 2016 each noted the company cost more than the alternatives — both concluded it was worth it. The other is reaching them. A 2023 reviewer said calls were never picked up, and that 2024 reviewer said two separate requests for an electrical estimate went unanswered. Older workmanship complaints exist too: two 2-star HomeAdvisor reviews from 2014 describe rain gutters leaking within two years and a wooden storm door that never closed properly, each answered at length by the company. On the credential side, the Cape Cod Times reported in 2016 that the U.S. Green Building Council awarded LEED Gold to the company's own Michael H. Cole Building in Eastham, and This Old House named them builder of its 2020 Idea House on the Cape. They are the call for a custom build, an addition, or a standing relationship with a second home — less obviously the call if you are price-shopping one repair. Get the estimate in writing, compare it, and settle who owns the follow-up before you sign.

Our experience with Cape Associates was perfect. They replaced our kitchen cabinet doors, the sink, countertops and hardware quickly and beautifully, with high quality materials and exquisite craftsmanship at a great price. The timing was just as promised. Communication was excellent. Special thanks to Lyndsay, Nancy and Sam for a wonderful transaction and a fabulous result. We couldn’t be happier.
They are the best. They did a wonderful job building the house and later with various tasks and upkeep including a chimney rebuild. They do high end projects but are also great for the modest homeowner. I’m using them now for a small window project and Dave H was there the next day getting specs.
We recently had your in-house electrician Dan come to our house to complete some minor tasks (replace a faulty arc-fault breaker, replace an old outdoor receptacle, trace some abandoned circuits from subpanel). Dealing with Dan was a pleasure from the walk-through to the completion of the work. He "got it" right away, he and Mariella got the quote back to us quickly and they scheduled the work promptly. When Dan showed up, he remembered all the details without prompting and efficiently and professionally executed the work. He is clearly a competent electrician, but the thing that really set him apart for us was his ability to communicate clearly. From our perspective, Dan is the type of person you want out there as the face of Cape Associates meeting your customers... he presents and executes with the quality we know from experience Cape Associates strives for. Many thanks to Cape Associates and Dan for a (small) job well done!!
Working with the Team at Cape Associates was a fantastic experience. They are a highly professional, customer-oriented company willing to work with the home owner to develop the best plan for your home. We had mini-splits installed and the work was outstanding--it was an impeccable installation, everything neatly laid out with care and attention to placement of condensers and conduit. There was great communication along the way about the process, wonderful patience in answering questions, great information about all the details, and everything followed the plan without a glitch! We are so pleased with the work, and really happy we went with Cape Associates for this work!
Highest estimate of 3 for our roof in 2022. This year, called to get an electrical estimate on 2 separate occasions... Never got a call back. I'm surprised.
