Capital Construction Contracting works out of Dorchester's edge of Boston, taking on the big exterior jobs — new roofs, siding, decks, windows and doors — for homes across the area. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and BBB rates it an A+ accredited business. The written record runs deep — 225 reviews since 2021 across ten platforms, with a base rating of 4.4★ from 335 Google reviews and similar numbers on Angi (4.5★, 109 ratings) and Best Pick Reports (4.1★, 145 ratings). On the actual construction, the story that repeats is finished work that holds up: a 2024 review described a leaking roof replaced with "no dust or debris" left behind, and a 2023 account of a 20-year-old roof recalled a crew that worked through 90°F heat and left an "excellent cleanup." Deck and porch work draws the same kind of praise — in a 2022 review, one homeowner called a new deck "high quality and perfectly built to our specifications," and another described a porch rebuild and full exterior-trim replacement on a century-old Victorian that kept the original crown-molding look using new PVC materials. Before any of that construction happens, though, there's a sales visit — and it's where a meaningful share of the negative reviews live. A recent review described a salesperson who wouldn't stop pressuring the homeowner after being asked to; a 2024 review said a rep claimed rotted rafters made a new roof necessary, a claim two independent inspectors later found no basis for; and a 2023 review called a $22,000 deck-repair estimate — four to seven times what other contractors quoted for the same job — a scam. A separate cluster of complaints is about what happens after signing: a 2024 review described an 18-month wait on a deposit amid "terrible efforts" to pull permits despite being charged a permitting fee, and a Best Pick Reports review updated in May 2026 said follow-up emails about permits went unanswered for weeks. Capital is a reasonable call for a straightforward roof, siding, or deck replacement — the finished work is what draws the strongest praise. Get any inspection findings and the estimate in writing before signing anything, ask who's pulling permits and when, and don't let a sales visit push a same-day decision.
“Capital Construction”
“I used Capital Construction out of Dorchester last summer for a complete demolition of an old deck that the previous owner built himself and construction of a new composite deck. Overall I was happy with them.”
Representatives were the best.
On June 27th a crew working in Lewiston Maine was taken by ICE. I have no reason to believe this company played any role in this, however I’m leaving this review here incase this becomes a pattern with their crews. When speaking with the company the day of they were very concerned and thankful for us calling in to let them know.
Vin was excellent very knowledgeable
Thanks for wasting my time. After being contacted multiple times to get a quote, I finally booked an appt for today. I was even contacted yesterday to confirm appt. After waiting 45 mins for no one to show up, not even the consideration of calling, I finally gave up. I attempted to call the main number, but was put on instant hold for 15 mins....and again I gave up. People don't waste you precious time!!!
Chase and Vin are excellent representatives. I felt very respected and cared for throughout the whole experience. They are very knowledgeable in explaining the process from beginning to end. They should be given high kudos for the exemplary work that they do!
