Carney Builders, LLC

Carney Builders, LLC is a West Newton design-build general contractor established in 2001, with a portfolio centered on substantial residential renovations, additions, custom homes, and new construction. Houzz lists nine projects and work across the greater Boston and Middlesex area. The written customer history is dated but specific. In a 2020 Angi review, a homeowner described a bathroom, walk-in closet, and loft conversion, praising Dave and the project manager while noting an occasional communication issue. A second 2020 Angi reviewer recommended the company for a large renovation and addition, and a 2020 Houzz reviewer praised a finished kitchen and the team’s cleanliness and courtesy. Licensing deserves a direct check before work begins. BuildZoom lists a Newton general contractor license as active but not verified, while its profile also lists several inactive residential, building, and Massachusetts construction supervisor license claims; BuildZoom’s score is 0 and it says no active license is on file. Angi says its license and insurance information is self-reported. The service mix fits homeowners planning a major remodel, addition, or custom build. Ask for current license confirmation, recent references, a written communication plan, and a detailed scope before signing.
