Cataumet Sawmill

Three of Cataumet Sawmill's Google reviews come down to a mantel — one a customer walked in and found, as they put it, "with a story"; one cut from an older oak piece a buyer picked out to hang; one a March 2026 reviewer was plainly happy with. This East Falmouth mill deals in wood with provenance, and mantels are only part of what leaves the yard. The company says it started in 1986 under Tom Adams and Ted Wolf, built around antique heart pine, and grew into beams, flooring, custom kitchen island tops and other character hardwoods. It describes itself as family-owned, covers antique heart pine flooring, reclaimed and rustic wood, custom milling and millwork across Southern New England, and states membership in the Home Builder and Remodelers Association of Cape Cod. On Google it carries 4.7 stars from 21 ratings. The written ones stay close to the bench: a customer writing in 2025 had a custom island top made, said it was finished in a week and worked well with their contractor, and that it draws compliments. A 2022 reviewer credited Nate and his team for refinished flooring and old accent beams that went into a new addition; another that year pointed here for custom wooden cabinets. Its Houzz profile, filed under flooring contractors, carries 36 portfolio photos and one project. This suits the homeowner who wants a piece milled rather than ordered from a catalog — a mantel, an island top, reclaimed flooring to match an older house. Bring your dimensions, ask what stock is in the yard, and settle the lead time for your piece before you commit.
