Cesar Alves DBA CN Construction Group works out of Bellingham, and its footprint sits in town permit files rather than in review threads. BuildZoom counts 85 permitted projects for the company, 49 of them in the past three years, most of them roofing, with a typical permit around $12,700 — full replacements and larger repairs rather than patch jobs. BuildZoom also scores the company 108, which the site says puts it above 95% of the 139,240 licensed contractors it tracks in Massachusetts. That is BuildZoom's own ranking of a company, not a verdict from anyone who hired it. On what customers think, there is very little to go on: three reviews, all on BuildZoom, all five stars. Uniformly positive, and far too few to carry a confident read. A company pulling dozens of permits a year with three written reviews is one whose customers mostly haven't put anything on the record publicly. The licensing picture is worth a phone call. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts construction supervisor license, CS-113974, and a home improvement contractor registration, #196591, both shown as active when the site last looked. It also lists a second registration, #203543, as inactive, and says that one was at some point cancelled. None of those numbers have been checked against the state registries here, and directory listings do sometimes attach to a different business with a similar name. A plausible call for a roof replacement around Bellingham if you want a crew that pulls permits routinely and works at real project sizes. Before signing anything, confirm the construction supervisor license with the Department of Public Safety and the home improvement contractor registration with the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, and ask which of the two registration numbers covers your job.

Septic repair. Cesar was awesome. There were several challenges on the job and he did a great job getting everything done.

Septic system replacement ($34,000). When things go well it is easy to be happy and pleased. The installation of our septic system did not go well. That said, Cesar and crew earned 5 stars and I explain why. Cesar's team is the definition of mettle. We interviewed several contractors and Cesar impressed us the most. We set a start date and then the town misplaced the paperwork; Cesar rolled with it and graciously accommodated the delay. While excavating he came across a couple of rocks the size of an SUV and handled it. The town had not properly marked the water line and the water main was punctured during excavation; Cesar pinched off the line until the town could locate the shut-off and handled it all like a pro. The excavation work was great — code required a 3' width either side of the new septic line and he added an additional 5 feet on each side. When the town refused to allow prior fill to be put back, he trucked in an extra 10 loads of sand (at $800 a load) and trucked out the extra fill. Despite cost overruns that wiped out any profit and complications beyond his control that turned a 2-week job into a 4-week job, Cesar maintained his composure. The workmanship looked great. His crew was wonderful to deal with. Cesar was exceptional.

Repair service line ($6,500). Cesar and his crew were terrific. I needed a service water line repaired and they eliminated all obstacles and completed the job, exceeding my expectations. I highly recommend them.

What does a roof replacement cost in Greater Boston?
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Cesar Alves Dba Cn Construction Group. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.
Estimated range
$9,000 – $18,600
Typical roofing project around $13,800
