Chenette Plumbing & Heating is a family-run South Shore shop that says it's been in business since 1973 — the Better Business Bureau backs the tenure with 53 years listed and an A+ rating — and several customers have their own long histories with the company: a 2023 review describes 15 years of use, and a 2022 review describes nearly 20. The positive side of the record is genuinely detailed. A late-2025 review described a water heater swap where the crew called ahead, arrived quickly, and left the area clean; a 2024 review credited a technician named Tyler with rearranging his schedule to minimize how long a kitchen sink was out of commission; and long-time customers describe furnace troubleshooting and old-faucet replacements handled reliably and reasonably priced. But the record from 2021 to 2024 also carries a real pattern of complaints that pulls hard against that picture. The most serious, from a 2022 review, describes a bathroom renovation that stalled mid-project: after a special-order tub finally arrived following a supply delay, the company stopped responding to calls and emails, and the reviewer says the tub sat unused in their living room for about a year before they gave up and looked elsewhere. Separately, reviews from late 2023 and 2024 describe unresponsive or rude phone and office interactions — one long-time customer says a receptionist was combative about a missed callback, and another lost out on a gas boiler installation after being treated rudely on the phone. A 2023 review also describes being charged $2,300 for ten hours of labor after a promised same-day finish slipped to the next day. One more thing worth confirming directly: the company's Massachusetts plumbing license, checked against the state registry, currently shows as expired. Chenette clearly has decades of real, satisfied repeat customers and can do careful, well-regarded work — but the communication and follow-through complaints are specific and recent enough to take seriously. Get a firm timeline and current licensing status confirmed in writing before committing to anything beyond a small job.
“Bills are reasonable for the high quality service they provide. Great plumbers and great admin staff make my job a lot easier.”
Great bunch of guys here who care about doing great work for their customers
Replaced my water heater. They called to let me know they were on the way and arrived quickly onsite. They did excellent work removing and installing a new water heater, leaving the area clean after. Very professional and friendly. I would definitely use them again and would not hesitate to recommend their services.
We’ve been using Chenette for plumbing repairs in Quincy for years. Maybe decades. Great service, and do it right the first time ethos. Will continue with them as needed.
Don't waste your time on these folks, rude on the phone and can't even call back as promised. They lost out on a new gas boiler install.
Had been using them for many years. However this past week we called them about a water heater issue. When the plumber finally called back it was 5:30 pm. Missed the call we were shopping. When we called back and spoke to the receptionist? She was full of all kinds of attitude. She said to us quote: ‘ well did you have your phone with you? Excuse me lady is your business doing that well that you alienate us and lose out on a $3000 job. You are not the only game in town lady. Going to your closest competition. This place has a bad attitude. Go someplace else.
