Cityside Locksmith is a one-person, mobile operation built around Brian — his name shows up in review after review, whether he's rekeying a new-to-them Somerville condo or wiring up a keyless deadbolt on a 100-plus-year-old home. The company says it's been running as a mobile locksmith since 2011, serving towns stretching from Arlington and Cambridge out to Lawrence. On Google the shop holds a 4.8-star average across 46 ratings, and the pattern across nearly twenty reviews going back to 2021 is punctuality and straight talk on price. In a 2021 review, one customer described Brian calling ahead when he was running half an hour late, then finishing the job quickly once he arrived with everything already in the truck; more recent reviews describe the same pattern — arriving exactly when he said he would. A 2026 Reddit thread backs this up, describing the business as owner-operated and citing work on both a 1910-era home's original locks and a set of storage-shed locks. The jobs lean urgent. In a 2024 review, a customer described a car lock damaged amid a string of Somerville auto break-ins, and a 2022 review described a 25-minute response after a partner locked keys in a trunk late at night; a 2025 review was quoted $135 for a studio lockout, less than the customer said other locksmiths had charged. Brian has also handled planned work — keypad deadbolts, rekeying a whole condo building, restructuring a confusing set of front-door locks. One thing worth asking about directly: a 2024 review described calling the number on the website five times over an hour during a lockout and getting no answer, despite the company advertising round-the-clock availability. Cityside is a solid call for a straightforward lock job — a rekey, a lockout, a car key replacement — especially on a property with older hardware Brian will know how to work with. Given the single-operator setup, it's worth confirming current response times up front if timing is critical.
“Cityside Locksmith has been great for me with both original 1910 doors/locks, modern doors and locks, and also storage shed locks. https://maps.app.goo.gl/tRMUoQim2hTjjp8t9 The business is owner operated so you're always getting the best service.”
We were quite impressed with the services we received from Brian. He arrived on time (rare these days!) introduced himself (ditto) and had everything he needed to add keyless locks to our new-to-us 100+ year old home. He spent a good bit of time adjusting the new locks and making sure they worked well. He even took a few extra minutes to adjust some of the older locks that were loose and not working up to his standards. We enthusiastically recommend Brian and the folks at Cityside Locksmith for any of your needs.
Brian rekeyed the locks for everyone in our new small Somerville condo and added some extras for us - and did great work! He also came back and restructured the front door locks to greatly simplify them for everyone. Highly recommend him!
I highly recommend it.
We were locked out of our studio due to a faulty August lock. I called up and was quoted $135 to get us in, which is less than I’ve paid other locksmiths in the past. The man on the phone said someone would be over in 20 minutes and he arrived exactly then. He quickly opened the lock and gave suggestions for improvements in the door and lock system to prevent it happening again. I was able to pay quickly with a card and was emailed a receipt. Fast and friendly service, I will call them again with any future issues!
Reliable, knowledgable, professional, local, affordable. Call Brian.
