Citywide Contracting, LLC is a Boston general contractor built for bigger jobs — commercial build-outs, restaurant and retail fit-outs, and renovations with bids reportedly running as high as $3 million, per a regional contractors' trade association. The company says it's been at this since 2009 (its own About page puts the founding a year later, in 2010), started by Peter Walsh and Emily Walsh, who still run it today as President and Vice President; the firm describes itself as part woman-owned. Its Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license is active, and it keeps a custom millwork shop in-house, so fabrication work doesn't get farmed out to a subcontractor. Its Google page carries a perfect 5-star rating, though that comes from just 7 reviews spread across five different platforms between 2022 and 2025 — clean, but not deep. The Better Business Bureau gives it an A+ profile grade and lists 16 years in business, even though Citywide has never pursued formal BBB accreditation. A construction trade association listing, a business-data site, and LinkedIn all describe the same thing independently: a Boston-based general contractor and construction manager working commercial and residential jobs across Massachusetts and beyond. Worth asking about before signing on: there's no detailed customer account from the last six months to point to, so current job load and responsiveness are worth confirming directly with the company. The A+ BBB grade is a good sign, but the lack of accreditation there means BBB hasn't put the business through its formal vetting process. Citywide reads as a solid call for a sizable commercial build-out or an ambitious residential renovation — the kind of outfit that self-performs and manages subcontractors on larger projects rather than small repair jobs. Given how few reviews there are to go on, ask for a couple of recent client references before committing to a big-budget project.

I had an excellent experience working with CWC on a commercial renovation project. Their team was highly professional, efficient, and consistently delivered top-notch work, all while staying on schedule and within budget.

We hired CWC for a remodel of newly-acquired B office space in Boston’s Downtown Crossing. They met or beat every deadline, chased and obtained all necessary permits (no small feat in Boston), lined up talented and hard-working subcontractors, and delivered a beautiful office space on time and on budget. They were easy to work with for the inevitable field adjustments that need to be made during construction with an high level of communication and practical advice, and they were always prompt, professional and displayed pride in their work. Highly highly recommend.

Professional, dependable, hard working, and great to work with. From a subcontractors perspective, Citywide is one of the best to work with!

Great experience working with Citywide on a 12,500 square foot commercial renovation. Super complicated recording studio build with 15 HVAC zones, 30 independently poured concrete slabs, acoustical doors, isolated power systems, and beyond. Very collaborative, down to earth, "let's find a solution" kind of folx. Just the kind of partner you want when you know you'll have to work through unexpected challenges together. Planning our next job with them now!
