Citywide Contracting is a Boston construction management and general contracting firm led by Peter Walsh (president) and Emily Walsh (vice president), who the company describes as veterans of the commercial and residential construction industry; its own materials describe the firm as founded around 2009-2010 and part-owned by a woman. The seven reviews on record are almost entirely about commercial work. In a 2023 review, a client described an office buildout in Downtown Crossing that met every deadline despite Boston's permitting process; a 2022 review describes a 12,500-square-foot commercial renovation that included a complex recording-studio build (15 HVAC zones, 30 poured concrete slabs, acoustical doors, isolated power systems). Other reviews, including one from a subcontractor's perspective, describe on-time, on-budget delivery and collaborative problem-solving on complicated jobs. Beyond the reviews, BuildZoom's permit-history profile documents 42 completed projects — a mix of commercial fit-outs and residential renovations — and separately lists kitchen, bathroom, basement, whole-home remodel and addition work among the company's services, though none of that residential work shows up in the review text itself. The company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and it carries an A+ BBB rating (without accreditation). Its address appears slightly differently across sources — the BBB lists 26 Clayton St while BuildZoom lists a Boston P.O. box — which is common for a firm of this size but worth confirming directly.
I had an excellent experience working with CWC on a commercial renovation project. Their team was highly professional, efficient, and consistently delivered top-notch work, all while staying on schedule and within budget.
We love working with Citywide Contracting. Peter and his team knock it out of the park every time.
We hired CWC for a remodel of newly-acquired B office space in Boston’s Downtown Crossing. They met or beat every deadline, chased and obtained all necessary permits (no small feat in Boston), lined up talented and hard-working subcontractors, and delivered a beautiful office space on time and on budget. They were easy to work with for the inevitable field adjustments that need to be made during construction with an high level of communication and practical advice, and they were always prompt, professional and displayed pride in their work. Highly highly recommend.
Professional, dependable, hard working, and great to work with. From a subcontractors perspective, Citywide is one of the best to work with!
Great experience working with Citywide on a 12,500 square foot commercial renovation. Super complicated recording studio build with 15 HVAC zones, 30 independently poured concrete slabs, acoustical doors, isolated power systems, and beyond. Very collaborative, down to earth, "let's find a solution" kind of folx. Just the kind of partner you want when you know you'll have to work through unexpected challenges together. Planning our next job with them now!
