Cliff Cummings Water Services is a central Massachusetts water company homeowners call when the water coming out of the tap is the problem — hard water, iron staining, sulfur smell, chlorine taste, or a well that has stopped delivering. The business says on its own site that it has served all of central Massachusetts for over 25 years; its HomeAdvisor profile, filed at 170 Burbank Road in Sutton, claims 36 years of experience. The work customers describe is consistent: whole-house filtration and softening systems, reverse-osmosis and filter servicing, well chlorination, and well pump and tank replacement. A 2022 reviewer wrote that after moving into a new house with high sodium and chloride readings, the crew traced it to a cracked well shaft, installed a jaswell seal and added a softener for the hard water. A 2020 reviewer described a full system replacement with the parts and estimated final cost explained up front, and said the same person would be servicing the equipment afterwards. Across 29 reviews from 2019 to 2026 on five sources, the recurring praise is for explanation and follow-through — people repeatedly name the owner "Dave"/"David" and technicians Dan and Darren, say the diagnosis was walked through before any work started, and note the crew left the space clean. HomeAdvisor publishes 4.9 stars from 27 ratings and Google 4.6 from 21. Most of the written detail is older: fifteen of the written accounts predate 2021, and only one review has landed in the last six months. The one thing worth raising before you book is what changed with ownership. In an August 2024 one-star review, a long-time customer wrote that the original owner had retired and that after telling the new owner an electrician was needed for a burnt pressure switch, a non-electrician was sent, could not do the work, and charged a $200 service fee; the customer paid another electrician $275 plus parts. That is a single account and the only negative in the file, but it sits after the ownership change and is worth asking about directly — specifically who will actually be on site, what the trip or diagnostic fee is, and whether the job needs a licensed electrician. No licence or registration number is published on the company's own site or on its HomeAdvisor profile, and the profile states the business does not offer emergency service or warranties, while listing free estimates. It is a reasonable call for well and water-quality work in the Worcester County towns — confirm the current ownership, the fee structure, and who is doing the work before scheduling.

“Cliff Cummings Water Service(major plug for him...he's been great to us since we bought this house) in Rutland, MA rescheduled his day and provided water from deep in the ground today.”
Do not hesitate to contact this company. Their customer service is outstanding! The tech that arrived was professional, knowledgeable, efficient, prompt. They fixed the problem and left our home cleaner than when they arrived. Highly recommend!
This company is very responsive and has fair pricing. A year after installation I called to get some more information on my water softener and they replied immediately and walked me through it. I would recommend them to anyone.
I have never had a better experience with a company. From reviewing my horrendous water condition to determining system needs, explaining and providing the install and further maintenance and repairs. Dave is amazing at getting back to you and this company cares about their customers. Every tech including Dan and Darren have always been able to patiently explain issues and even noticed I needed a new well water tank in the house before it ended up ruining my well water pump. Unbelievably grateful to have found this company.
Called company and found out original owner had retired. The original owner installed my pump 31 years ago. Told new owner I needed an electrician because my pressure switch was burnt. He sent a worker July 19 who was NOT an electrician. The worker looked at the switch and informed my wife he COULD NOT fix the switch because—— he wasn’t an electrician. He then proceeded to charge my wife $200 for a service fee. What part of ‘needing an electrician’ did the owner not understand. I was scammed. Had a different electrician replace the switch and gauge for $275 plus parts.
Quick and quality service with knowledgeable staff.
